We are conducting this recruitment in collaboration with our esteemed partner in Tanzania. Although supported by our global network, this is a fully local Tanzanian operation that operates independently within its respective market and is managed by a local team, reflecting the local culture. We are seeking a dedicated, self-motivated HR Coordinator to join this autonomous local team and advance their HR initiatives.

Role Overview

As the HR Coordinator you will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions and activities to support the employees and ensure a positive work culture. The right candidate will understand that a well-functioning HR department is the backbone of business performance and will take that responsibility seriously.

Key Responsibilities

Director & Management Support: Partner closely with the Director to address employee behavior, monitor timekeeping/attendance trends, and implement actionable operational improvements at the management's request.

Behavior & Incident Management: Proactively record, track, and document workplace issues, grievances, and behavioral concerns, ensuring a clear paper trail and supporting management with fair resolutions.

Performance & Progress Tracking: Coordinate the employee appraisal and performance review process, actively supporting management in actioning performance improvement plans (PIPs) and development strategies.

Contract & Compliance Management: Draft, issue, and manage employee contracts, renewals, and HR documentation, ensuring full compliance with local labor laws and company policies.

Data & Records Maintenance: Maintain accurate, up-to-date HR records, personnel files, and compliance documentation.

Reporting & Analytics: Generate detailed HR reports and analytics, specifically highlighting attendance, timekeeping, and behavioral metrics to help management identify areas for improvement.

Lifecycle Administration: Coordinate recruitment processes and manage end-to-end onboarding and off-boarding administration.

First-Line HR Support: Act as the primary point of contact for routine HR queries from staff, escalating complex issues to the Director or management when necessary.

  • Previous experience in an HR, people operations, or related administrative role
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload
  • Reliable and self-sufficient, you meet deadlines and take ownership of your responsibilities
  • Discreet and trustworthy in handling confidential information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with an HRIS or HR software is advantageous
  • Prior experience in an HR, administrative, or people-focused role
  • Solid understanding of employment contracts, HR documentation
  • Experience supporting or coordinating appraisal and performance review processes
