About the Team

Launched in 2021, Fanatics Betting and Gaming is the online and retail sports betting subsidiary of Fanatics, a global digital sports platform. The Fanatics Sportsbook is available to 95% of the addressable online sports bettor market in the U.S. Fanatics Casino is currently available online in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Fanatics Betting and Gaming operates twenty-two retail sports betting locations, including the only sportsbook inside an NFL stadium at Northwest Stadium. Fanatics Betting and Gaming is headquartered in New York with offices in Denver, Leeds and Dublin.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Staff Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Okta and SaaS platform integration to contribute to the design, implementation, and scalability of our Identity and Access Management strategy. In this role, you'll work closely with engineers and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient solutions. 

This position is a highly collaborative role, you'll function as part of a team to drive technical excellence and contribute to architectural changes, standards, and roadmaps.

Duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Work with the team to design, implement, and maintain secure identity and access management systems using Okta.
  • Serve as technical owner for Okta and all integrations with core SaaS applications (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Salesforce, Atlassian, Zoom). Ensuring proper access controls, compliance, and data protection are in place.
  • Collaborate on architecture, integration, and operational best practices for SaaS applications and platforms that fits the needs of the business.
  • Contribute to the development of automation scripts and tools to streamline SaaS onboarding/offboarding, provisioning, and governance.
  • Experience integrating with Datadog or other observability platforms to build alerts and monitors, to have eyes on the environment. 
  • Evaluate and enhance Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) strategies across the organization.
  • Partner with InfoSec, HRIS, and other business units to ensure compliance and security requirements are met across Enterprise Systems.
  • Actively participate in technical discussions and partnering across the organization and cross functionally with other Fanatics Operating Companies.
  • Oncall rotation is required for this role. Contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts related to outages or security events.
  • Develop and maintain automated workflows and custom integrations via APIs, Okta Workflows, or identity orchestration tools.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to IAM and SaaS engineering roadmaps.

What skills are important to us:

Required:

  • 8+ years of experience in IT engineering or systems administration roles with a focus on identity and SaaS platforms.
  • 3+ years managing, mentoring, motivating, and growing a goal-driven delivery team.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Okta (SSO, MFA, Lifecycle Management, Workflows, etc.).
  • Expert understanding of modern automation technologies and scripting tools. (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Okta Workflows).
  • Experience in merging technologies, migration of tech stacks, and integrating between multiple companies or verticals.
  • Strong technical understanding across multiple Enterprise Cloud and SAAS solutions ( e.g., Google Workspace, Slack Grid, Zoom, Atlassian) with knowledge of Azure AD and Microsoft AD.
  • Technical understanding of MDM tools and comparison of products; Jamf, Workspace ONE, and InTune in particular.
  • Collaborate on the selection and implementation of new technologies and systems that improve our operational efficiency and support our growth objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and staff, to ensure IT aligns with the overall business strategy.
  • Work with external partners, including vendors, consultants, and service providers, to ensure the smooth operation of our Enterprise systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment. Leading and mentoring others.
  • Proven ability to document your work and maintain IT policies and procedures that ensure the security and integrity of our data and systems. 

Preferred:

  • Experience with building and integrating Okta from the ground up.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
  • Relevant certifications: Okta Certified Administrator/Consultant, CISSP, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and have experience with participating in Agile rituals and ceremonies. 
  • Prior experience in enterprise-level or high-growth tech companies.

The expected salary range for this role is based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is eligible for the Fanatics Betting and Gaming annual bonus program and an equity award. *Salary range is listed in US Dollars; actual salary will vary based on location. *Salary Range:  $171,000 - $225,000 per year (actual salary will be determined in part by a successful candidate’s geographic location).
