Description
The Make-up Unit Manager is responsible for supervising, coaching and managing the team of Make-up Artists to ensure consistent adherence to company standards for appearance, makeup quality, and stylistic presentation. This role focuses on team leadership, performance management, training coordination, quality control, and continuous improvement of makeup and styling processes in the studio.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and support the team of Makeup Artists to ensure high-quality execution of makeup and styling duties
- Plan schedules and assignments to provide full coverage for live operations
- Monitor team performance, providing regular feedback, coaching, and professional development
- Coordinate makeup trainings and workshops for new and existing employees
- Resolve conflicts and manage escalations
- Ensure all Makeup Artists adhere to Company appearance standards and approved guidelines
- Conduct regular checks and audits of team work to maintain quality and consistency
- Maintain proper documentation of makeup standards
- Perform quality assessments for all Make up employees based on KPIs
- Analyze KPI results and proactively recommend improvements to enhance service quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with other department managers to address discrepancies or issues
- Monitor inventory of makeup products and tools, ensuring timely replenishment
- Open and follow up on tasks, inventory or other requests to ensure all operational needs are met
- Recommend new products, tools, or procedures to improve makeup quality and efficiency
- Identify trends, recurring issues, and best practices to optimize team performance and makeup quality
- Ensure full compliance with all hygiene guidelines within the makeup department
- Monitor people on duty to ensure they consistently meet appearance and makeup standards
- Address team member issues promptly and professionally, ensuring alignment with Company expectations
- Oversee the scheduling, growth, and development of Makeup Artists
- Implement updates or changes to procedures to maintain high standards and improve efficiency
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head of Studio Services to support overall operational excellence
Requirements
- Intermediate vocational qualification in makeup artistry or a related field
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Management, Beauty, or related disciplines is an advantage
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a professional Make-up Artist
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory, team lead, or management role in beauty related environments
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional knowledge of makeup products, techniques, and makeup-specific elements
- Ability to monitor quality, evaluate performance, and enforce standards consistently
- Creative mindset with innovation in makeup application and styling
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced studio environment
- Excellent knowledge of Armenian is mandatory
- Knowledge of English or Russian is an advantage for cross-functional communication
