Position Summary
 
A Supervisor is defined as the operational leader for a shift, group or team of direct labor work force.  This position reports to a manager who has responsibility for a collective of shifts, groups or teams.
 
The Supervisor will Plan, Organize and Direct (POD) work to ensure safe working environment and practices, maintain the highest quality of product and people, and achieve on time schedule attainment. 
 
Reports To: Fabrication Manager
Work Location: 2001 Proenergy Blvd., Sedalia, MO 65301
 
Expectations for the Supervisor includes but not limited to:
  • Effective communicator:
    • Evaluate direct reports both formally and informally
    • Ensure expectations are understood for safety, quality and productivity
    • Ensure employees are aware of Company information/news, policy and expectations
    • Communicate across the Company the expectations, needs and situations as needed
    • Participate and complete daily pass-down when working with multiple Supervisors
  • Reporting and Administrative:
    • Safety – all near misses and incident reporting with appropriate escalation as per policy and expectation from manager
    • Quality – responsible for accurate NCR reporting, redlining and escalation of issues.  Assist in the inspections of parts and work quality.
    • Ensure accurate time keeping for reports and payroll completion which includes the approval process of PTO
    • Issue Helpdesk tickets as required
    • Make consumable or tool request
    • Schedule attainment communication and documentation
    • Performance Reviews - Writes mid-year and annual employee evaluations for direct reports
    • Discipline - Prepares performance discipline documentation for review with appropriate leadership
  • Managing for Daily Improvement:
    • Encourage and participate in shop improvement teams.  Champion action items.
    • Ensure all employees are maintaining and improving 5S standards
    • Identify and correct behavior or policy violations & escalate as required
    • Identify and praise solid performance from individuals and/or teams and escalate.
    • Communicate design and process improvement ideas
    • Track and communicate man hour status and goals
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED and/or 5 years’ experience with the basic GMAW (gas metal arc welding), SMAW (shielded metal arc welding), FCAW(flux cored arc welding), Oxy-fuel cutting, and plasma arc cutting.
  • Must have basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) knowledge.
  • Must know how to effectively use the following measuring devices and basic tools: tape measure, micrometer, calipers, square, level, angle finder, weld gages, clamps, and half clamp configurations. Along with safe porta-power operation and techniques.
  • Material handling equipment experience:
  • Must have ability to operate forklift safely.
  • Must have the ability and knowledge to rig properly and safely run an overhead style crane.
  • Machine list should include but not be limited to Miller and/or Lincoln power sources.
  • This position requires the knowledge of amperage, wire speed, and consumable replacement from liners, gas tips, and wire spool replacement on all the specified types of welding, while still maintaining cost effectiveness.
  • Quality Standards and drawing Comprehension:
  • Identify basic welding symbols and components of a symbol (arrow, reference line, tail, size, length) in accordance with the current national welding symbol standard AWS A 2.4 along with ASME standards current edition.
  • Quality of welds shall be in accordance with D1.1 and ASME section 9 for judging undercut, porosity, and size of weld tolerances.
  • Must also understand warpage and heat placement to achieve flatness and overall part conformity to part specified tolerances.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check
