The Position:
FanDuel Sports Network is looking for an experienced Chief Engineer, to add to our roster. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Infrastructure, this role will lead all engineering operations for studio and remote productions, including live events, post-production, and infrastructure support.
This is an in-office role based in St. Louis, MO.
The Game Plan:
(What you will do)
- Lead all engineering operations for studio and remote productions, including live events, post-production, and infrastructure support.
- Architect and implement scalable broadcast systems and processes that minimize reliance on day-to-day direct intervention.
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of transmission and production equipment including routers, switchers, intercoms, and audio consoles.
- Provide hands-on support for AVID Media Composer, Interplay, Adobe Creative Cloud, EVS (XT-VIA, IP Director, X-File), and LTO archiving systems.
- Support master control infrastructure (not operations), ensuring signal integrity and compliance with broadcast standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across studio, field, and IT environments, including Dejero, LiveU, and IP-based transmission systems.
- Collaborate with production teams on lighting, camera shading, and audio workflows.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of all systems using CAD or Visio.
- Ensure all engineering practices align with guidelines and standards set by corporate engineering.
- Coordinate with corporate IT on network security, software updates, and infrastructure planning.
- Train and mentor engineering staff and freelance technicians.
- Participate in capital planning and budgeting for technical upgrades and expansions.
- Respond to urgent technical issues during live broadcasts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
The Stats:
(What to bring)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in broadcast engineering, preferably in a live sports production environment.
- Proven leadership in systems design, integration, and maintenance of complex broadcast infrastructures.
- Ability to build and lead teams, develop repeatable processes, and delegate effectively.
- Strong working knowledge of AVID, EVS, Adobe Creative Cloud, Evertz, Grass Valley, SSL, and IP-based broadcast technologies.
- Experience with audio systems including Dante, Lectrosonics, Shure, RTS, Clear-Com, and Reidel.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting computer-based production systems and networked broadcast equipment.
- Ability to build and terminate broadcast cables (video, audio, network).
- Strong analytical and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Flexibility to work variable hours and travel as needed across the Midwest region.
- CAD/Visio proficiency is required - candidate must maintain accurate documentation at all times.
