Position Summary
 
The Test Stand Supervisor will provide aid, guidance and support to oversee and supervise the technical teams perform installation, safe operation of equipment and removal of turbine engines and associated balance of plant equipment during both normal test and emergency situations. This position will perform high level troubleshooting and diagnostics to successfully report the cause of equipment or operational abnormalities and problems associated with aero derivative engine tests on LM2500 and LM6000 engines. The Test Stand Supervisor will provide monitoring of operations, for engineering and diagnostics review, oversee and perform maintenance to the test stand and repair to equipment as needed and required by our maintenance guidelines.

Position Responsibilities
  • Provide aid, guidance and support to oversee inspections, repair, installation and removal of LM2500 and LM6000 engines for test.
  • Inspect and verify instrumentation hookup, engine package alignment of the generator and all mechanical tasks to ensure safe and accurate engine test.
  • Oversee mechanical operations, maintain all mechanical skids, Fin-Fan coolers, Demin Water Tanks, Instrumentation air and NG compressors for operation.
  • Conduct electrical and electronic system inspections, calibrations and tests as required to ensure plants are operating within specified parameters.
  • Respond and direct personnel to all electronic and electrical malfunctions as directed.
  • Assist and direct nonscheduled breakdowns and repairs as necessary.
  • Ensure data quality, analyze trends and operating parameters on all electronic and electrical systems to identify potential or impending failures.
  • Certify plant is running at optimal efficiency.
  • Maintain voltage schedule and unit output to ensure operation within the generator capability curve.
  • Monitor engine operation to assure that all power generation and support equipment is operating within the designed scope.
  • Operate and control the engine through a series of test procedures to ensure quality and serviceability of our product for the customer.
  • Investigate all conditions potentially detrimental to unit operations; initiate immediate corrective actions as required to remedy all situations.
  • Determine nature and cause of trouble from evidence available and take corrective action to maintain safe and optimum operating conditions for both the personnel and equipment.
  • Will assist, provide guidance and support on all maintenance activities including, but not limited to, equipment, test equipment, calibration, balance and alignment inspections, lubrication, etc.
  • Must troubleshooting and repair turbine controls, generator load banks and plant Distribution Control Systems.
  • Supervise TC/IC personnel in the safe and reliable operation of the power plant DCS.
  • Aid in developing, reviewing, and revising departmental procedures, logs, and summaries.
  • Direct and manage all programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness and operability.
  • Be available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis as required.
  • Must have strong communication and personnel skills and ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, DOT, State and Federal regulations.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent apprenticeship, and Five (5) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience in the power or aviation engine industry.
  • Able to read and interpret P&IDs, Electrical one-lines, Logic drawings, Technical Manuals, I/O lists, etc.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check
Desired Qualifications
  • 5+ years’ Experience with LM2500 or LM6000 Power Plant operations or CF6 Aviation engine strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years’ Experience operating a power plant or related HVAC industry and electrical background.
  • Associate degree is preferred or equivalent Military experience a plus.
  • Component alignment, vibration system and machine balance experience.
  • Must be able to multi-task and manage high pressure situations and safeguard employee safety.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as analytical, computer, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Must have strong initiative and be a highly motivated individual.
  • Must be detail oriented and simultaneously handle multiple projects and personnel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, Adobe required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical equipment operation, electrical equipment maintenance requirements and maintenance restrictions imposed by safety and environmental regulations.
  • Technical competence including understanding software, hardware, networks, etc.
  • Available to work flexible work schedules in seemingly tight quarters and uncomfortable inclement weather.
