Job Description
Ensure the implementation, execution, and monitoring of preventive actions related to occupational accidents, diseases, and workplace hazards, in accordance with NR-4 and the company’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System, supporting SESMT to achieve effective technical performance.
 
Key Responsibilities
  1. Participate in determining the SESMT structure according to the company’s Risk Grade (Grau de Risco) and workforce size, as established by NR-4.
  2. Collaborate in identifying hazards, assessing risks, and developing the company’s risk inventory.
  3. Support the preparation and/or updating of the Risk Management Program (PGR) and its action plan, aligned with NR-1 and other applicable standards.
  4. Conduct safety inspections, audits, and workplace walkthroughs to identify unsafe conditions, proposing corrective and preventive measures.
  5. Promote and coordinate campaigns, workshops, and training programs on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) for workers, supervisors, and managers.
  6. Investigate occupational accidents, incidents, and diseases; record and analyze root causes, propose corrective actions, and follow up on implementation.
  7. Verify the proper use and effectiveness of personal protective equipment (PPE) and collective protection systems, ensuring proper documentation and control.
  8. Support occupational health surveillance in coordination with healthcare staff, ensuring that medical exams are performed and results monitored.
  9. Maintain all mandatory NR-4 documentation and records (risk assessments, action reports, statistics, accident logs, etc.) in compliance with legal requirements.
  10. Assist the Safety Committee or equivalent body in preparing monthly or annual reports on OHS indicators (accident frequency, severity rates, lost days, etc.).
  11. Advise operational areas on the application of safety standards, internal procedures, and review of operational changes involving potential new risks.
  12. Participate in emergency drills, evacuation exercises, and first-aid training activities.
Specific Functions
  • Regularly visit production areas to identify hazards, verify working conditions, and record findings using inspection checklists.
  • Prepare technical inspection reports with corrective action proposals, responsible parties, and deadlines for closure.
  • Verify PPE and safety equipment inventories, ensuring availability, good condition, and proper usage.
  • Support HR in managing OHS training records—attendance, course topics, and evaluation results.
  • Keep risk maps, safety signage, evacuation routes, and maintenance records up to date.
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with the company’s OHS requirements.
  • Maintain direct communication with the HSE Manager / SESMT Coordinator for escalation of critical risks and review of OHS policies and improvements.
Job Requirements
  • Technical degree in Occupational Safety (Técnico em Segurança do Trabalho) or legally recognized equivalent in Brazil, registered as per NR-4, Annex II.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in occupational safety functions, preferably in industrial or high-risk environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Brazilian OHS legislation, especially NR-4, NR-1, NR-5, NR-6, and related regulations.
  • Proficiency in safety inspection and reporting tools; strong analytical skills for risk assessment; effective communication and training abilities.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, improvement-driven, and committed to building a strong safety culture.
