Role Overview:
This role is to support Technical Compliance activities across Technology and other areas of the business. The role holder will provide support for audit activities, regulatory data reporting incidents and regulatory technology change management activities as well as Tech Compliance advisory accross business projects. The role will ensure third party test lab functional and security certifications.
The Technical Compliance Specialist will also contribute to the creation and maintenance of a matrix that would show how the business complies to the technical standards coming from different gambling regulators. This will be established through the analysis of the technical standards requirements, identification and evaluation of existing tech controls. Controls will be mapped to the requirements. The role will work with different stakeholders within Technology to ensure provision of correct evidence to support existing controls.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Supports the Technical Compliance Senior Manager with the BAU activities and roadmap delivery, including functional and security audits, regulatory data reporting and security testing, change management audits as well as ad-hoc inspections requested by different regulators.
- Supports Product and Delivery teams accross all verticals to ensure technical requirements applicable to new business initiatives or projects are understood and delivered against and ensures third-party testing lab certification and regulators authorizations.
- Works with the Tech Compliance Lead and the Technology Department in order to respond to data reporting queries and incidents raised by different gambling regulators.
- Assists in the process of writing documents that are sent to regulators on new technology or changes in existing tech stack.
- Builds efficiencies into Technical Compliance processes and workflow, provides support for regulatory issues and incident management and builds and maintains relevant documentation.
- Works with the Technical Compliance team as well as the Risk & Compliance team to understand technical standards and delivers tech standards interpretation to various levels of stakeholders
- Evaluates existing technical controls, policies and processes
- Facilitates control design with control owners across various business units and advises on control improvements
- Advises on process documentation based on guidelines received from the Risk & Compliance team
- Assists with technical compliance for data analysis and reporting systems
- Performs detailed technical control gap analyses using structured methodologies
- Supports vulnerability assessments from a compliance perspective
- Assists with technical compliance impact assessments for system changes
- Conducts technical compliance walkthroughs with development teams
- Supports technical compliance reporting automation initiatives
- Creates technical compliance testing procedures and checklists
- Maintains technical compliance knowledge base with evidence samples and examples
- Supports creation of technical compliance standards documentation
Key Working Relationships:
- Internal Stakeholders: Technology (including Development, Data, IT Operations, Service Management & Information Security), Product/Commercial, Legal, Risk & Complaince and Regulatory Affairs.
- External Stakeholders: regulators, game providers, data vault providers, platform providers, test houses & auditors.
Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required:
- Ability to understand technical regulatory requirements and communicate them effectively to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to understand how products/technologies work and comply with regulatory requirements
- Ability to understand an IT infrastructure, Cloud environments, API concept, information security principles, data protection technologies, and enterprise software systems
- Relational database and SQL knowledge
- XML/XSD understanding
- Basic networking, Linux and Windows operating systems knowledge
- Scripting utilities (Python) to analyze bigger volumes of xml files, or to call APIs
- Security certificates understanding
- Ability to understand compliance frameworks, polices, processes and procedures
- Ability to liaise with external and internal stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent English communication skills (both oral & written)
- Enthusiasm for working in a team-orientated collaborative environment.
- Ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Desirable:
- Experience of working in the gaming environment and direct experience of working with regulators and operators to ensure compliance with technical requirements.
- Knowledge and practical experience in implementing Compliance or Assurance governance processes is useful.
- Experience of certifying products and platforms in the regulated market space.
- Experience working with key regulations (e.g., GDPR, SOX, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001) and how they apply to IT systems.
