Location – London/Leeds/Dublin

Hybrid – 2 days per week (Dublin only); 1 day per week (London/Leeds)

The Tax Team are managed by the Tax Director who reports directly into the group’s CFO and leads a high profile tax function based in the Flutter Group’s offices in London, Dublin, Leeds and the Isle of Man. The Group operates in a wide number of international locations. The Tax Team works closely with the business to manage the Group’s tax affairs.

Our Tax Technology team plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance and optimising tax processes through advanced technological solutions.

Role Overview:

This role will be primarily responsible for leading efforts covering every facet of automation associated with corporate tax filing and reporting processes. As part of your role, you will work closely with teams across Group Finance, the EPM finance team, Compliance & Reporting tax team, and other key stakeholders in the business such as members of the IT and data teams, as well as Finance teams in the Group’s overseas jurisdictions.  

What you’ll do

  • Lead on all aspects of automation related to corporate tax reporting and regulatory adherence.
  • Provide expertise in Corporation Tax Compliance automation, including using tool such as OneSource
  • Provide expertise on Oracle EPM, including TRCs, leading on related improvement projects and offering support along with mentorship to colleagues working within this space.
  • Work with the Head of Tax Technology and other team members to define and deliver a specific roadmap to deliver an outstanding tax reporting solution.
  • Lead multiple tax technology projects, including defining requirements, testing, configuration, and managing data, ensuring alignment with team priorities.
  • Manage senior interested parties, including working closely with the group responsible for Corporate Tax Compliance and Reporting to define tax requirements and required system updates.
  • Support the Corporate Tax Reporting and Compliance group over year end and quarterly reporting periods, and other reporting cycles e.g. CbCR, BEPs, etc.
  • Proactively promote and develop tax use cases across systems, including the EPM suite of applications, to deliver tax automation.
  • Stay updated on the latest tax regulations and technology trends to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.
  • Continue to develop skills in relevant tax technology areas such as AI, Data Science, RPA and Machine Learning.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of tax technology solutions with the rest of the tax technology team.
  • Provide training and support to team members on EPM and TRCs.
  • Act as a coach and support for junior team members, including assisting in developing project and stakeholder management skills

How you’ll do it

  • Minimum of 8-10 years in tax technology
  • Accountancy and/or Tax qualifications are preferential; understanding of general accounting principles and good commercial awareness essential
  • Strong understanding of tax laws and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in tax software solutions (OneSource, and Oracle EPM including TRCs preferred)
  • Experience in a similar role in-house or a large advisory firm
  • Background working with low code tools such as Alteryx or UI Path is helpful but not mandatory
  • Experience in the use of Python/Java preferential but not essential
  • Excellent project management skills, with experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including for non-finance audiences
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Agile and flexible, learning quickly when faced with new situations
  • Well organised and thorough, with close attention to detail and a proactive drive for continuous improvement
  • Proactively takes ownership of workstreams, ensuring timely delivery to a high standard and manages expectations of stakeholders
  • Experience in managing less experienced colleagues is advantageous but not required
