Job Description

We are seeking an experienced SRE Tech Lead to drive the reliability, performance, and scalability of our hybrid infrastructure while leading a team of Site Reliability Engineers. This role combines strong hands-on technical expertise (80%) with leadership responsibilities (20%). You will guide the team across cloud and on-premise environments, lead the adoption of modern SRE practices, and ensure operational excellence during and after our migration to AWS.

Key responsibilities:

Technical Responsibilities (80%)

  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of AWS- and EKS-based infrastructure, including EKS Hybrid / EKS Anywhere clusters.
  • Drive end-to-end migration of on-premises Windows/IIS and Linux-based workloads to AWS Cloud and Kubernetes.
  • Architect and implement scalable, secure, and cost- efficient cloud and hybrid solutions.
  • Define, implement, and improve monitoring, logging, alerting, within observability solutions (Datadog, Elastic, OpenTelemetry etc.).
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies across hybrid environments.
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to ensure seamless deployment pipelines (CI/CD).
  • Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.
  • Identify and eliminate reliability bottlenecks, drive root-cause analysis, and reduce operational load through automation.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support and participate in the on-call rotation.

Leadership & People Responsibilities (20%)

  • Lead and mentor the SRE team, ensuring continuous technical growth and building strong engineering culture.
  • Support team members through coaching, knowledge-sharing sessions, and structured upskilling (Windows, Linux, AWS, Kubernetes).
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security, Platform, and Operations teams to ensure alignment and smooth delivery.
  • Participate in planning, prioritization, and execution of SRE roadmap and key initiatives.
  • Ensure clear communication between stakeholders and drive accountability for reliability goals.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Skills and experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, ALB/NLB, RDS, S3, ECR, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Experience managing Kubernetes in production environments (EKS, EKS Anywhere, EKS Hybrid preferred).
  • Proven background in migrating and supporting IIS/.NET and Linux-based applications.
  • Expertise with Infrastructure-as-Code, particularly Terraform.
  • Deep knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), GitOps (ArgoCD), automated deployments, and configuration management.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows, Linux, networking, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with observability platforms (Datadog, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Experience working in 24/7 high-availability environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding engineers in a technical capacity.

Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional or DevOps Engineer – Professional.
  • Certifications related to Kubernetes (CKA, CKAD, or similar).
  • Experience with containerizing legacy applications (Kubernetes/EKS).
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery planning, change and incident management and business continuity.
