About the Role

BetMGM is looking for a Senior Director of Data Technology to lead the engineering and infrastructure of our Data & BI organization. Reporting to the VP of Data & Business Intelligence, this is a senior leadership role responsible for the platforms, pipelines, and systems that power data-driven decision-making across one of North America's leading sports betting and iGaming companies.

This leader will own the full data technology stack from ingestion and transformation to BI delivery and AI/ML infrastructure. You will play a critical role in scaling our Medallion Architecture as we enter an exciting period of growth, leading a team of talented engineers and technical leads, setting technical direction while fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable in the architecture room and with executives, and someone able to drive rigorous technical execution while translating that work into clear business value for senior stakeholders. You will partner closely with Data Science, Analytics, Compliance, Technology, and Product to ensure our data infrastructure is not just reliable and scalable, but a genuine competitive advantage for the business. This is a high-visibility role with real organizational influence, operating at the intersection of technology strategy and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, development, and operations of our cloud data platform, built on Snowflake and dbt. Drive performance, reliability, and cost efficiency across the platform while maintaining a best-in-class modern data stack.

  • Oversee the design and delivery of scalable ingestion and transformation pipelines, including third-party data integrations, internal data products, and cross-domain data assets that serve commercial, compliance, and product stakeholders.

  • Partner with analytics leadership to ensure our semantic layer delivers accessible, governed, and high-quality insights across the enterprise. Own the tooling decisions and standards that enable self-serve analytics at scale.

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between BetMGM and Entain across shared data infrastructure, ensuring alignment on platform standards, roadmap dependencies, and delivery commitments. Translate group-level capabilities into BetMGM-specific solutions while maintaining clear boundaries of ownership and accountability.

  • Champion data quality, lineage, and observability across the stack leveraging tools such as Monte Carlo, and establish the standards and processes that ensure trust in our data at every layer.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; master's degree preferred

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, data platform, or related technical disciplines

  • 5+ years in a senior leadership capacity, managing teams of engineers and technical leads in a complex, matrixed organization

  • Experience operating in a high-volume, fast-paced environment; iGaming, sports betting, fintech, or e-commerce background a strong plus

Technical Expertise:

  • Deep expertise in cloud-native data platforms, with hands-on Snowflake experience strongly preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of dbt, Airflow or equivalent orchestration tooling, and modern ELT/ETL patterns

  • Proficiency in data modeling, Medallion or equivalent layered architecture design, and semantic layer development

  • Familiarity with BI platforms and self-serve analytics tooling (experience with Omni, Sigma, or similar a plus)

  • Working knowledge of data observability and quality frameworks; experience with Monte Carlo or equivalent tooling preferred

  • Comfort with cloud infrastructure cost management across AWS or Azure environments

Leadership & Soft Skills:

  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing, senior technical teams with a low-ego, collaborative style

  • Exceptional executive communication skills and ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes for C-suite and cross-functional stakeholders

  • Strong program management instincts, with a track record of delivering large-scale, cross-functional initiatives end to end with minimal oversight

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and influence across organizational boundaries, including with external partners

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving clarity in fast-moving environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a global parent company or joint venture structure, managing shared platform dependencies and cross-org alignment

  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance data requirements in a licensed gaming or financial services environment

  • Experience with FinOps practices and cloud consumption governance at scale

  • Exposure to data science or ML platform infrastructure in a production environment

  • Track record of driving data democratization and self-serve analytics adoption across a large enterprise

The annual salary range for this position is $194,400 to $255,150.  Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.  This position is also eligible for participation in a performance-based bonus plan.
