Role Overview:

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Casino AI Enablement engineering team in Cluj-Napoca. You are a capable, curious engineer who delivers well-scoped features and components as part of a team, and who embraces AI as the default tool in your development workflow. You use coding assistants and agentic tools to accelerate your delivery, improve your code quality, and deepen your understanding of system design.

You work with independence, owning well-defined tasks and milestones within a product area. You bring solid foundations in Java and/or Node.js, a willingness to learn backend architecture patterns, and a pragmatic, outcome-driven mindset. You default to using AI in your workflow, and develop the judgment to validate, refine, and safely integrate its outputs.

You are collaborative, inquisitive, and customer-aware. You will work closely with senior engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver value incrementally, contribute to team standards, and grow your skills in AI-powered engineering.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

• Operate in an AI-first development model, using coding assistants, agentic workflows, and automation as the primary means of building, testing, and iterating on software solutions.
• Continuously develop and refine your personal AI-driven development workflow to improve delivery speed and code quality.
• Design, build, and maintain products and solutions using Java and/or Node.js, with a focus on reliability, readability, and testability.
• Deliver features end-to-end, in collaboration with the other tech teams and peers.
• Produce production-ready code independently on clear tasks, and with collaboration on more complex or ambiguous ones.
• Contribute to technical discussions, to design reviews, and implement solutions in line with team architecture standards.
• Proactively identify and address bugs, tech debt, and reliability risks.
• Support and contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability and deployment tooling.
• Collaborate with and actively learn from more senior engineers; support junior team members when opportunities arise.
• Share knowledge of AI tools and techniques with the wider team, helping build our collective AI capability.
• Partner closely with product managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into clear, maintainable engineering solutions.

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required:

AI-Augmented Development

• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude, Cursor) as a primary interface for software development.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI tooling to increase development throughput while maintaining high standards for correctness, security, and maintainability.
• Ability to write effective prompts, critically review AI-generated code, and integrate it safely into a shared codebase.
• Developing judgment of where AI adds value and where human engineering reasoning is essential.
• Familiarity with or curiosity about LLM APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Amazon Bedrock) and their integration into backend services.
• Exposure to or interest in monitoring and evaluation approaches for AI systems.
• Genuine curiosity about new models, frameworks, and prompting techniques.

Core Engineering

• 2–4 years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Working proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) and/or Node.js for building backend services.
• Solid grasp of software design fundamentals: clean code, SOLID principles, RESTful API design, and basic distributed systems concepts.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis).
• Comfortable working in cloud-native environments (AWS preferred); some exposure to containerization (Docker) and IaC (Terraform).
• Familiarity with messaging platforms (e.g. Kafka, SQS/SNS) is a plus.
• Good testing practices: unit and integration testing; awareness of TDD/BDD approaches.
• Full-stack development and TypeScript knowledge are a plus.
