THE POSITION

Join our high-velocity Racing team where performance is measured in milliseconds. As a Software Engineer on the Racing Vertical, you'll build and maintain the entire racing technology stack, with a primary focus on database and backend systems that power real-time racing experiences for millions of users.

Work across the full stack in a fast-paced environment where we challenge ourselves and each other to continually grow. You'll solve complex problems in a domain where every optimization counts and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in an intimate, fast-moving environment.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Own and maintain critical parts of the racing technology stack, becoming a subject matter expert in high-performance systems
  • Design and implement efficient, scalable software solutions using Java and Spring Boot
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code following industry best practices with focus on performance optimization
  • Solve complex problems independently while collaborating effectively with team members when needed
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and technical decisions that shape our racing platform
  • Work with high-volume, real-time data ensuring system reliability and performance
  • Take ownership of technical challenges and drive solutions from conception to deployment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features that enhance the racing experience

 

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

ESSENTIAL

  • 3-5 years of professional software development experience with proven depth in at least one programming language
  • Strong Java development experience with solid understanding of object-oriented principles
  • Experience with Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem
  • Database experience with SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL or SQL Server
  • Performance-focused mindset with experience optimizing systems for speed and efficiency
  • Problem-solving expertise with ability to approach complex challenges from multiple angles
  • Self-driven and curious about technology with passion for continuous learning
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative team experience
  • RESTful API development and service-oriented architecture experience
  • Software testing practices including unit and integration testing

DESIRABLE

  • AWS cloud services experience
  • High-concurrency, low-latency systems experience

The applicable salary range for this position is $116,000- $145,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
