About this role

The SMSF Quality & Assurance Specialist operates within the Stake Super team, driving the delivery of accurate and compliant Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) accounts. This role is crucial for upholding professional standards, ensuring timely tax return lodgement, and maintaining overall business integrity. The Specialist is responsible for guaranteeing the quality and accuracy of all delivered SMSF accounts and associated documentation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance & Review: Conduct comprehensive reviews of SMSF accounts, encompassing financial reports, tax returns, governing minutes, and audit correspondence.
  • Framework Development: Develop, implement, and rigorously maintain the systematic framework and systems utilized for quality review and control.
  • Process Improvement: Manage and analyze performance feedback to initiate improvements in work quality and optimize processes across the accounting team.
  • Technical Advisory: Provide essential technical support and expertise to the internal accounting team.
  • Compliance: Support the firm's obligations as a registered Tax Agent, ensuring all practices align with current regulatory requirements.


Secondary Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for complex technical queries originating from clients.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions to enhance the technical proficiency and quality awareness of team members.
  • Stay abreast of current legislative changes impacting the SMSF sector.

A bit about you

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic and possess the following qualifications, experience, and competencies:

  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in SMSF, specifically within a quality consulting capacity at a top or mid-tier professional services firm.
  • Qualifications: Possesses or is actively working towards an CA/CPA SMSF Specialist designation / registered Tax Agent.
  • Technical Mastery: Demonstrates advanced proficiency with Class Super and possesses strong technical expertise in Australian accounting principles, taxation, financial reporting, and an in-depth knowledge of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act (SISA) and Regulations (SISR).
  • Work Environment: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing competing priorities and strict deadlines while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment while also operating independently with minimal supervision.
