Job Description
As an SEO Lead within the Fanatics Markets Growth team, you’ll own the vision, strategy, and execution of organic acquisition across a portfolio of Fanatics-owned and partnered properties. You’ll blend deep technical SEO expertise with high-quality content strategy, product thinking, and commercial partnerships to accelerate traffic, conversion, and revenue. You’ll lead a cross-functional, high-performing team and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Commercial to deliver scalable growth systems that compound over time.
This is a pivotal role for an SEO leader who understands modern search (including GEO/LLMO), can balance technical foundations with content creation, and knows how affiliate and partnership models drive sustainable growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end SEO strategy: technical foundations, information architecture, site performance, structured data, and content systems across Fanatics Markets properties
- Own the SEO roadmap and delivery across multiple teams; ensure alignment with growth goals, target segments, and commercial priorities
- Define and implement GEO/LLMO-informed approaches to search (geographic targeting, localization, and LLM-oriented optimization) to future-proof organic growth
- Partner with Engineering to ship high-quality, scalable technical improvements (crawl/indexation, log analysis, internal linking, schema, Core Web Vitals, rendering, internationalization)
- Build high-impact content strategies (taxonomies, topical maps, editorial playbooks, programmatic pages) that complement technical SEO and drive measurable outcomes
- Develop and manage affiliate and partnership strategies that expand reach, enhance authority, and convert intent; establish commercial frameworks and measurement
- Establish performance monitoring and alerting; use data to identify trends, diagnose issues, and prioritize impactful experiments
- Own budgets, resourcing, and vendor relationships
- Lead competitor and market research to inform positioning, SERP strategies, and new growth opportunities (including site builds or acquisitions)
- Collaborate with Product and Design to improve UX for search entrants; integrate SEO into product discovery, site navigation, and conversion flows
- Communicate updates, decisions, and outcomes succinctly to stakeholders and executives; evangelize SEO best practices across the organization
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience leading SEO at scale across complex, multi-site portfolios
- Deep technical SEO expertise (crawlability, indexation, rendering, site performance, structured data, JavaScript SEO, international SEO)
- Strong knowledge of content SEO: topical authority, programmatic content, editorial operations, and measurement frameworks
- Practical understanding of GEO/LLMO and how geographic signals, localization, and LLM-shaped user behavior inform modern SEO strategy
- Experience balancing technical SEO with content creation, and activating partnerships/affiliates to drive authority, distribution, and revenue
- Proven track record working with engineers, analysts, and product managers to deliver cross-functional solutions
- Comfort with SEO and analytics tooling (e.g., GSC, GA, log analysis, crawl tools, data warehouses, BI dashboards); fluent in experimentation and ROI-driven prioritization
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; able to translate complex SEO concepts into clear business impact
- A proactive, team-first mindset with high attention to detail and a bias for action
- Experience in sports, gaming, media, or marketplaces a plus
