Job Description

The candidate will work closely with the architecture team and Heads of Development to create solutions that drive the business capability. Additionally, will collaborate with both business and technology teams to ensure our technology continually evolves, leveraging industry developments. The role will also ensure that all designs are architected to the highest standards. 

  • Architect Complex Systems: Design end-to-end software architectures for gaming integrations, wallet and payment services, player account management, and real-time betting engines. 

  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance through design: Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure all solutions meet jurisdictional requirements (e.g., UKGC, PCI-DSS, GDPR). 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, developers, QA, and DevOps to align technical solutions with business goals and user needs. 

  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team to enhance the enterprise architecture vision, strategy and roadmaps from a business, technology and data perspective, including ‘as is’, ‘to be’ and transitional states. 

  • Lead and influence the delivery of cross-cutting capabilities that enable change 

  • Technology Strategy: Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and cloud services that support scalability, security, and innovation. 

  • Understand Rank's ecosystem and interdependencies, including reference architectures 

  • Guide teams to make appropriate business, technology and data decisions by recommending reuse, sustainability and scalability, to achieve value for money and reduce risk 

  • Security & Integrity: Implement robust security measures to protect player data, financial transactions, and game integrity. 

  • Performance Optimization: Drive performance tuning and reliability improvements across high-traffic systems. 

  • Mentorship & Governance: Establish architectural standards and mentor engineering teams to ensure consistent implementation and technical excellence. 

  • Carry out horizon scanning across industry, identifying emerging trends and their potential impact and opportunity for the organisation 

  • Participates in and can lead meetings with stakeholders. 

  • Provide advice, leadership and mentoring for teams, defining standards and practices for Enterprise Architecture. 

Qualifications

  • Experience of common Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman etc, 

  • TOGAF and Archimate certification 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. 

  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with 3+ years in a solution architecture role. 

  • Experience in the gambling, fintech, or other regulated industries. 

  • Strong proficiency in backend technologies (e.g., Java, .NET, Node.js) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), particularly in relation to Service Orientated Architecture. 

  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures. 

  • Familiarity with secure coding practices, encryption, and fraud prevention techniques. 

  • Experience with real-time transaction systems and high-availability architectures. 

  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines. 

  • Understanding of data analytics, player behavior modeling, and responsible gambling features. 

  • Ability to articulate and present different points-of-views on various technologies and architecture patterns. 

  • Solution focussed with the imagination to identify innovative approaches to critical problems. 

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to guide, direct, motivate and support staff either directly or indirectly. 

  • Consultancy skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders at senior levels. 

  • Self-starting and self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude. 

Strong proficiency in backend technologies (e.g., Java, .NET, Node.js) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures. Familiarity with secure coding practices, encryption, and fraud prevention techniques. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience with real-time transaction systems and high-availability architectures. Knowledge of gaming protocols, RNG systems, and player lifecycle management. Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines. Understanding of data analytics, player behavior modeling, and responsible gambling features.
