Job Purpose:
As the Senior Software Engineer, you will deliver our development strategy through having ownership of the systems architecture and development, following the departments methodology, and drive outstanding results across all engines, following company and department objectives and priorities.
Main Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Software Architecture and Development
- Collaborate with Product Managers and business stakeholders, and/or do tech discovery on written requirements, to design, develop, and build innovative products that eliminate dependencies on legacy systems and evolve to include new technology and improved functionality and user-interface design.
- Anticipate requirements and changing technological trends to build software that is both flexible and scalable.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, becoming the go-to person for specific domain knowledge.
Technical Excellence and Quality Assurance
- Write clean, high-quality code following Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) best practices, design patterns, and the SOLID and DRY principles.
- Take full ownership of your tasks and ensure they meet stipulated business and compliance requirements for the task or project
- Implement a rigorous testing approach which includes developer or peer developer, unit testing and other automated testing where possible. Offer suggestions for keeping automated test plans up to date, and improving in line with the systems
- Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high-quality standards and continuously improve existing systems.
Problem Solving and Decision Making
- Proactively analyze complex problems and identify one or more root causes, even with complicated or unclear information.
- Confidently make independent decisions, considering all possible outcomes and potential challenges.
- Identify, investigate, and solve critical (P1) issues
- Be proactive in closing the gaps and spotting weaknesses in existing and new solutions, and raising them with the Team or relevant manager
- Ensure that your proposed solutions align with the business value of a given task, and present facts and data to secure buy-in from stakeholders.
- Recommend the best solution for the problem, with alternatives where possible, and base this on practical and realistic feasibility, adjusting the ideal solution based on tools and timeframe available
Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead projects from a technical perspective and manage multiple complex tasks and projects with various stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Communicate issues, risks, and dependencies clearly and effectively to your colleagues and stakeholders.
- Break down complex tasks into understandable deliverables and produce clear, relevant project updates.
- Subscribe to a growth mindset, continual improvement, and a “Can do” attitude
What’s needed for success – Experience & Qualifications:
- At least 4 years React/TypeScript Frontend Development, integrating with restful API’s
- Knowledge of Material UI, responsive layouts using CSS grid and Tailwind CSS highly advantageous
- Strong .net c# experience building Restful APIs for back-end
- Experience with MS SQL database development (queries, stored procedures, jobs, admin)
- Knowledge or experience with front-end automated testing tools advantageous
- Ability to write unit and integration tests;
- Experience applying SOLID design principles;
