Senior Legal Counsel (Technology, Data & IP focus) (12-Month Secondment)

Your opportunity

Want to help shape the technology, digital and data capabilities driving Tabcorp's future? We're looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join the team on a 12-month secondment. As Tabcorp continues to invest in the platforms, partnerships and capabilities that power our business, you'll provide trusted legal advice that helps unlock opportunity, manage risk and support better commercial outcomes across technology, data, privacy and intellectual property matters.

Your role, your impact

Reporting to Tabcorp's General Counsel & Privacy Officer, you'll be the business's primary technology lawyer and trusted legal advisor on technology transactions, partnerships and initiatives that support Tabcorp's continued growth and transformation, across its TAB, SKY and MAX businesses. Working closely with Technology, Procurement, and the TAB, SKY and MAX teams, you'll help shape commercial outcomes while ensuring legal and regulatory risks are effectively managed. Specifically, you will:

• Lead legal support for technology transactions (both buy-side and sell-side), including drafting, reviewing and negotiating technology agreements
• Provide legal advice and assistance on data, privacy and Responsible AI matters, including guidance on privacy and AI assessments
• Advise on intellectual property and related Australian Consumer Law matters, including leading legal support on registered intellectual property protection, licensing and exploitation
• Deliver practical, commercially focused and balanced advice across strategic and critical initiatives
• Coach junior team members on technology and IP related matters

What you'll need to succeed

You'll be a commercially minded legal professional who enjoys working closely with the business to solve problems and enable outcomes. You're confident navigating complexity, building trusted relationships and providing clear advice in fast-moving environments. You’ll possess:

• Experience in technology contracting (buy-side and sell-side)
• Experience in advising on intellectual property matters, particularly in respect of trademarks and copyright
• Exposure to data, privacy and Responsible AI matters
• Proven ability to independently deliver commercially minded, risk aware legal advice
• Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to manage competing priorities with sound judgement
