Position Summary
Bow Valley College is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Research Facilitator to support and advance applied research across the institution. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful initiatives within our three applied research pillars: educational technology, social innovation, and health & health technology. Reporting to the Manager, Applied Research, the Research Facilitator will work closely with faculty, staff, academic schools, college departments, community agencies, and government bodies to build research capacity and deliver projects that benefit learners, industry, and the wider community.
In this role, you will play a key part in grant development (pre-award) by helping Bow Valley College researchers identify and pursue competitive funding opportunities that align with institutional priorities. You will facilitate the entire grant application process—from scanning for emerging opportunities, coordinating proposal development, and providing strategic advice, to stewarding relationships with funding bodies such as Tri-Agency and the Government of Alberta.
You will also provide project management (post-grant administration) support to ensure successful delivery of funded research initiatives. This includes managing reporting requirements, ethics approvals, budget oversight, milestone tracking, and knowledge mobilization. Acting as a bridge between researchers, funders, and internal teams, you will ensure projects meet deliverables while contributing to Bow Valley College’s applied research reputation.
Additionally, you will oversee the development and maintenance of research policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks, ensuring they align with funder requirements and research ethics standards. You will also play a critical role in building applied research capacity within the College by promoting research achievements, supporting knowledge-sharing events, and assisting faculty with communication and publication strategies.
The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in education, health, technology, or social sciences, along with at least three years of related experience (a combination of education and experience may be considered). Candidates with five or more years of related experience are strongly preferred, particularly those with expertise in applied research project management, grant development, research ethics, and knowledge dissemination. Advanced writing skills, proficiency with MS Office Suite, and experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders will be essential.
If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire.
This role is an opportunity to contribute to the growth of applied research at Bow Valley College, working with passionate colleagues and external partners to drive innovation and create real-world impact.
Closing Date: September 15, 2025
This opening is a temporary (AUPE) maternity leave position with an anticipated conclusion in December, 2026.
Please note all successful candidates will be required to provide copies of government issued identification and proof of educational qualifications upon hire and may be required to provide an enhanced police information check.
