About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced PHP Team Lead to take a critical leadership role in our Sportsbook division — leading complex, high-performance backend systems that serve millions of users globally. 

What You’ll Do

• Lead the team technically and set clear direction on architecture, engineering standards, and best practices 

• Design and evolve scalable, reliable backend systems with a strong focus on performance and maintainability 

• Actively contribute to hands-on development, writing and reviewing code in critical parts of the system 

• Lead and develop engineers through mentoring, feedback, and effective delegation 

• Own delivery outcomes by planning work, prioritizing initiatives, and ensuring predictable execution 

• Ensure high code quality, stable releases, and continuous improvement of engineering practices 

• Own production health, including monitoring, incident handling, and follow-up improvements 

• Collaborate closely with product, platform, and other teams to deliver end-to-end solutions 

Who You Are

• 7+ years of hands-on PHP backend development experience 

• 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership or team lead role 

• Strong understanding of software design, OOP, and clean code principles 

• Experience with modern PHP frameworks such as Phalcon, Symfony, or Laravel 

• Solid experience building and operating distributed backend systems, including APIs, asynchronous processing, and messaging 

• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases 

• Practical experience with messaging and caching technologies (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis, Memcached) 

• Experience working with microservices and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) 

• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure 

• Fluent English communication skills and ability to lead through technical guidance 

Nice to have:  

• Experience with additional backend and frontend technologies such as Node.js, Python, JavaScript, Vue.js
