Job Summary
Rainforest Action Network (RAN) is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage accurate and timely payroll processing for our diverse, multi-state workforce. This role plays a critical part in maintaining payroll data, resolving discrepancies, and supporting employees with payroll-related inquiries. Youβll help ensure compliance with payroll regulations and policies, contributing to the operational efficiency of our organization as we work toward our mission to protect forests, fight climate change, and uphold human rights.
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing multi-state, multi-company payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring all employees are paid promptly and correctly. You will resolve payroll discrepancies, answer employee payroll-related questions, and provide clear, actionable solutions. The role also involves training staff on payroll systems and procedures, ensuring consistent understanding and correct usage across teams. Compliance with company policies and payroll regulations is crucial, as youβll ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll requirements.
In addition, you will process off-cycle and manual payments as needed, manage garnishment documents within payroll systems, and prepare payroll reports for management. Monitoring tax filings and meeting all deadlines will be key aspects of the role. You will also contribute to payroll-related projects, process improvements, and other initiatives to enhance payroll operations and employee satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for interacting effectively with diverse teams and employees. A high level of attention to detail is required to ensure accuracy in payroll processing, reporting, and tax filings. Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks are critical, as is the ability to identify discrepancies and implement effective solutions through analytical thinking.
