Job Description

We are looking for an outstanding Operations Lead to take full ownership of our Portuguese operation and turn it into a best-in-class, highly efficient and fully compliant market unit.

This is a rare opportunity for a hands-on, strategic and commercially minded operator to oversee the entire local operation, shape processes end-to-end and directly influence the growth trajectory of one of the leading businesses in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full commercial ownership of the Portuguese market (Customer Support, VIP Sales, Payments & Risk, Compliance & AML, Product & Content localisation)
  • Continuously analyse market dynamics, competitor moves and customer behaviour to identify and close competitive gaps
  • Lead regular process audits, identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks and cost leaks, and implement scalable solutions
  • Streamline cross-functional workflows to achieve industry-leading response times, conversion rates, fraud prevention and compliance standards
  • Act as the escalation point for all operational, compliance and regulatory topics in Portugal
  • Coordinate and drive cross-functional projects (new product launches, payment method roll-outs, regulatory changes, system migrations, etc.)
  • Provide market intelligence, operational insights recommendations to regional and central leadership teams
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Data, Legal, Finance Marketing teams to ensure Portugal remains agile and ahead of the market trends
  • Ensure full adherence to SRIJ requirements and internal AML/KYC policies

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of operations leadership experience, ideally in iGaming, fintech, e-commerce or regulated digital businesses
  • Proven track record of building and scaling efficient operations in the ground up or turning around underperforming units
  • Strong commercial acumen and deep understanding of the Portuguese market (consumer behaviour, competitors, regulatory environment)
  • Hands-on experience with Payments, Fraud prevention, AML/Compliance and Customer Support operations
  • Analytical mindset: comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets, BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and data-driven decision making
  • Project management skills: you make complex cross-functional projects happen on time and within budget
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills; able to influence regional and group-level senior leadership
  • Natural leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-change environments
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English (Spanish is a strong plus)
