This role requires a commercially minded and strategic marketer who can adapt approaches across diverse markets, balancing global direction with strong local execution.

What you’ll be doing

As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:

Brand Strategy & Commercial Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end brand strategy development across multiple channels for the Betway brand, driving sustained commercial growth across South Africa

  • Translate consumer insights, market trends, and performance data into actionable brand and campaign strategies

  • Define and execute integrated marketing campaigns across traditional, digital, and experiential channels to increase brand visibility, engagement, and conversion

  • Play a key role in shaping go-to-market strategies for new initiatives, ensuring clear positioning and messaging

Stakeholder & Agency Management

  • Partner with cross-functional teams and executive leadership to align marketing initiatives with broader commercial objectives

  • Manage partner agencies and creative teams to deliver consistent, high-quality brand output across all touchpoints

Planning, Budget & Performance

  • Own brand planning, campaign calendars, and budget management across markets

  • Ensure optimal ROI and delivery against KPIs through continuous performance tracking and optimisation

  • Manage marketing budgets and report on performance against targets

General Marketing Management

  • Provide ongoing feedback on market conditions and business performance

  • Identify and propose new marketing opportunities to drive growth

  • Develop and execute country-specific marketing strategies and rollout plans

  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends

Acquisition Channels

Manage and optimise acquisition channels including:

  • Social

  • Digital

  • ATL & BTL

  • Activations

  • Sponsorships

Retention & Customer Experience

  • Drive retention strategies across markets

  • Oversee segmentation, lifecycle marketing, and customer journeys

  • Support VIP and high-value customer initiatives

  • Develop promotional and offer strategies to maximise engagement

Essential skills you’ll bring to the table

The necessary skills that we require for this role include:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively

  • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with a focus on achieving shared goals

  • Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope

  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations

  • 5–10 years’ experience in a full end-to-end marketing role

  • Proven experience leading marketing strategy across multiple channels and markets

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, drive growth, and optimise ROI

  • Strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to translate consumer insights, market trends, and performance data into actionable strategies

  • Solid understanding of consumer behaviour and market dynamics

  • Proven track record of delivering successful, integrated campaigns across digital, traditional, and experiential channels

  • Strong understanding of brand development, positioning, and go-to-market strategy

  • Experience managing marketing across multiple markets

  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at all levels

  • Experience managing agencies and external partners to deliver high-quality output

  • Excellent analytical capability with a data-driven approach to performance measurement and optimisation

  • Highly organised with strong project management capabilities and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve

It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:

  • Experience managing marketing across South Africa

  • Background in sports, entertainment, or digital-first consumer brands

  • Experience working within complex, matrixed organisations

  • Exposure to CRM, retention strategies, and customer lifecycle management

  • Experience across both online and offline (ATL/BTL) marketing channels

  • Understanding of regulatory environments within African markets

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in marketing, business, or a related field
