Role Purpose

In Flutter COO we collaborate with specialists across Flutter to develop, launch and share the Flutter Edge. Together we cover Product & Payments, Technology, Sportsbook Product & Trading, People, Property, Corporate Communications and Strategic Partnerships & Transformation.

The Head of Planning and Portfolio Management for Technology Operations is a strategic leadership role responsible for coordinating the delivery of critical technology initiatives across Cloud Infrastructure, Networking, Service Management, and Cyber Security. This role ensures efficient portfolio performance, prioritization of resources, and delivery excellence while encouraging collaboration across Technology Operations and the broader Delivery community.

What you’ll do

Portfolio Management & Delivery

  • Lead and coordinate the Technology Operations portfolio covering four essential domains: Cloud Infrastructure, Networking, Service Management, and Cyber Security

  • Ensure projects and initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business expectations

  • Establish and maintain portfolio governance frameworks, including prioritization criteria, capacity planning, and dependency management

  • Drive portfolio optimization to improve value delivery and resource utilization

  • Monitor portfolio health metrics and implement corrective actions where necessary

Collaborator Management & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive management reporting frameworks providing visibility of portfolio status, risks, and outcomes

  • Present portfolio performance to senior leadership and key collaborators

  • Work closely with the wider Technology teams to understand priorities and constraints

Process Build & Governance

  • Build and implement intake processes for Technology Operations in collaboration with functional heads

  • Establish clear intake mechanisms for requirements flowing to and from other teams

  • Define and detail cross-functional workflows, handoff points, and procedures for handling blocking issues

  • Compose standardized processes for demand management, prioritization, and prioritisation

  • Ensure alignment with enterprise portfolio management standards and methodologies

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work alongside the extended Delivery community to develop standardized intake and partnership approaches

  • Facilitate coordination between Technology Operations and other technology teams on shared dependencies

  • Drive process harmonization to ensure seamless flow of work across organizational boundaries

Planning for long-term goals

  • Contribute to Technology Operations long-term planning and roadmap development

  • Identify portfolio-level risks, dependencies, and opportunities

  • Support capacity planning and resource forecasting across the four pillars

  • Drive initiatives to improve delivery predictability and operational efficiency

What you’ll need:

  • Proven experience in portfolio management, program management, or delivery management within technology environments

  • Solid knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure, Networking, Service Management, and/or Cyber Security fields

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-workstream portfolios

  • Experience crafting and implementing intake and governance processes

  • Excellent collaborator management skills with ability to influence at senior levels

  • Strong analytical skills with experience crafting management reporting and dashboards

  • Experience working in matrix organizations and driving cross-functional collaboration

  • Knowledge of portfolio management methodologies and guidelines

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Good to have

  • Experience within Technology Operations or Infrastructure functions

  • Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, or other scaled delivery frameworks

  • Knowledge of ITIL, COBIT, or similar service management frameworks

  • Experience with portfolio management tools (e.g., Jira Align, ServiceNow PPM, Clarity)

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Background in cyber security or risk management

  • Project/Program management certifications (PMP, MSP, PgMP)
