The Head of HR – Rest of Africa & Employee Relations Lead will be responsible for driving the end‑to‑end HR strategy across the Rest of Africa (RoA) region while leading the company’s Employee Relations (ER) agenda. This role ensures the delivery of integrated people solutions that enable business growth, talent development, and a high-performance culture across diverse markets.

The role also acts as the strategic custodian of Employee Relations, ensuring fair, compliant, values-driven people practices and fostering constructive relationships with employees, leaders, and social partners..

This is a senior, trusted role requiring strong judgement, discretion, and the ability to operate independently while influencing stakeholders across all levels. Owns employee relations and workplace matters, functional portfolio workforce strategy and leads HRBPs within assigned business area.

What you’ll be doing

As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead all employee relations and workplace matters.
  • Translate business strategy into workforce planning actions.
  • Lead annual and cyclical HR processes - performance, talent, moderation and succession discussions.
  • Lead change management initiatives and oversee complex restructuring activities.
  • Use data and analytics to influence decisions.
  •  Coach leaders on performance and capability.
  • Drive culture and engagement activities.
  • Develop capability of Senior HRBPs and HRBPs.
  • Own succession planning methodology.

Essential skills you’ll bring to the table

The necessary skills that we require for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Industrial Psychology, Labour Relations, or related field.
  • 5-8+ years of progressive HR experience including senior HRBP roles.
  • Strong Employee Relations background.
  • Experience working across African markets preferred.
  • Proven people leadership experience.
  • Strategic HR leadership and multi-country experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Employee Relations and labour legislation.
  • Strong influencing, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Skilled in investigations, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
  • Ability to navigate diversity, ambiguity, and organisational complexity.

It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:

  • Exposure to organisational change projects
  • Ability to support communication and engagement plans
  • Able to troubleshoot, run reports, or support system-related projects
  • Understanding of commercial drivers and organisational structure
  • Ability to align HR workflows with business priorities
  • Able to streamline processes and remove inefficiencies
  • Experience navigating complex organisations
  • Confidence engaging with senior leaders and external partners
