Reporting into the Finance Director, the Head of Finance – Paddy Power Retail will be a pivotal leader within both the Paddy Power Retail and Finance leadership teams, accountable for driving commercial performance and strategic decision-making across the Retail division.
Acting as a trusted partner to the Managing Director of Retail and the senior leadership team, this role combines financial insight with commercial acumen to improve profitability through cost control, incisive revenue analysis, and the identification of opportunities to enhance revenues and optimise returns. In a market characterised by regulatory change and evolving customer behaviour, the role will ensure Retail strategy and performance remain agile, resilient, and positioned for balanced success.
What you will do
- Influencing the MD of Retail and divisional directors to shape, develop, and complete the Retail strategy, ensuring financial short- and long-term financial considerations are balanced
- Maturity to liaise with the UKI Chairman through the development of the Retail Strategy
- Responsible for the quarterly budget and forecasting cycle, ensuring internal partners are fully engaged in P&L impact of assumptions and that targets are challenging but achievable; this role is outstanding in Commercial Finance as it’s leading a full P&L from revenue to EBITDA
- Pro-actively engage with the Regulation/ Compliance teams to understand developments across the industry and model the specific impact on the Retail business
- Support the Finance Director and CFO in driving the UK&I division to revenue and EBITDA targets
- Identification and delivery of costs saving programme: identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency, includes working with closely with the business and procurement teams on procurement projects as well as BAU cost control
- Working with the investor relations team to ensure performance of the Paddy Power retail business is communicated accurately for all external reporting requirements
- Deliver monthly performance reviews for all areas of responsibility to the Paddy Power leadership team and the UKI Leadership team
- Develop close relationships across the wider finance function and as one of the most senior finance roles based in Dublin; act as a focal point for the UKI Finance team
How you’ll do it
- Highly numerate with strong financial and analytical skills
- Experience of business partnering and commercial acumen, able to communicate financial performance to senior internal partners and to simplify complex information
- Strong communication, influencing, collaboration and relationship building skills across matrix cultures
- Results oriented, with the ability to take decisions quickly when necessary and the resilience to challenge. Bias to action
