About this role

The Financial Operations team owns money movements, reconciliations, partner settlements and payment exception handling across our business. The team delivers accurate, compliant and auditable execution of cash and payment workflows while providing timely, customer-facing responses and partnering with Finance, Treasury, Product and Compliance to reduce operational risk.

You will be a hands-on member of Financial Operations, responsible for day-to-day cash operations: owning the cash ops ticket queue, triaging and resolving deposit/payment exceptions and recalls, managing bank-partner escalations and rejects, supporting transaction loading and EOFY accounting tasks, and driving process and control improvements to reduce manual effort and risk. This role demands accuracy, strong stakeholder communication and an operational problem-solving mindset.

You will be required to work Australian hours - 6pm - 2am BR time.

Further responsibilities include:

Cash operations & ticketing

  • Own and operate the cash operations ticket queue: triage, investigate and resolve cash tickets, payment queries and operational complaints; document investigations and outcomes in ticketing and ops systems.
  • Ensure timely escalation and handover of complex issues to senior ops, Finance or Compliance.

Deposit recalls, rejects & bank-partner liaison

  • Evaluate and action deposit recalls and payment rejects in accordance with SOPs; coordinate with banking and payment partners to resolve exceptions, manage supporting documentation and meet partner timelines.
  • Act as primary operations contact for partner escalations and migration issues, tracking issues to resolution and surfacing lessons learned.

Reconciliations of customer payments

  • Reconcile customer receipts and balances; monitor partner and regulatory payments where applicable.
  • Trace and identify funds quickly to resolve customer queries related to funding and withdrawals.
  • Produce and maintain audit-ready reconciliation records and support investigatory requests from Finance or Compliance.

Client onboarding & account maintenance

  • Support client onboarding and account conversions.
  • Complete account maintenance requests (name changes, owner/member updates, personal information changes and other administrative updates).

Process improvement, projects & controls

  • Maintain and improve SOPs and controls (for example, deposit recall processes); identify recurring failure modes and propose remediation that reduces manual effort and risk.
  • Support projects such as banking-partner migrations, treasury/process changes and automation of routine tasks.

Stakeholder management & communication

  • Work closely with Customer Success, Finance, Product, Compliance and Treasury to ensure timely resolution and to feed product/process improvements. Provide clear, customer-facing and partner-facing communications.

A bit about you

  • Minimum 3+ years in cash operations, payments, banking operations or financial operations. Experience in financial services/payments is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience handling deposit recalls, payment exceptions, bank-partner escalations or transaction reconciliations is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrable accuracy when working with financial data and reconciliations.
  • Practical problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to investigating cash/payment issues end-to-end and escalating appropriately.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (Zendesk or equivalent), spreadsheets (advanced Excel/Sheets) and basic accounting transaction workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to manage partner and customer communications calmly and clearly.
  • Ability to prioritise under pressure, own tasks through to completion and operate in a fast-moving fintech environment.
  • Portuguese and English fluency (preferred for Brazil).

At Stake, we’re more interested in your attitude than your resume. If you believe this is a role you want to jump into, please apply and let us know why in your cover letter!
