The Opportunity:
As an eSports Trader, you will play a key role in managing our eSports betting markets, ensuring accurate and competitive odds, real-time trading coverage, and effective risk management. Working at the intersection of technology, data, and competitive gaming, you'll help shape and grow our eSports vertical as part of a fast-paced and highly skilled trading team.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Monitor incoming bets on eSports events using real-time bet tickers and odds monitoring tools to ensure coverage meets service level agreements.
- Publish odds for missing events and supplement third-party feeds by compiling odds through internal trading tools, including Outright markets.
- Evaluate financial exposure using risk review dashboards and adjust prices to minimise unnecessary liabilities.
- Maintain a clear view of feed health and pricing accuracy from providers, ensuring odds are delivered in real-time and align with the market.
- Conduct bet noting and player profiling to uncover betting patterns and provide actionable insights to the Risk and Trading teams.
- Implement and manage betting limits across events and markets through internal tools (e.g. Fieldbook).
- Closely monitor market liabilities and respond to threshold breaches in line with risk protocols.
- Collaborate with the Content and Marketing teams to ensure eSports events and selections are displayed accurately and in a timely manner on partner sites.
- Analyse market performance and report on key trading metrics, providing insights to help shape trading strategy.
- Conduct benchmarking of eSports coverage and pricing strategies across multiple jurisdictions and competitors.
- Work closely with other teams to support smooth operations and deliver a best-in-class partner experience.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in trading tools and processes by providing feedback based on day-to-day trading operations.
- Support the broader trading team with general sports trading tasks during low eSports volume periods (e.g., odds monitoring, liability checks).
- Engage with trading managers to align eSports trading strategies with the needs of different brands and partners.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Excellent knowledge of key eSports titles such as Dota 2, CS2, League of Legends, Valorant, and Overwatch, including common betting markets, rules, trends, and current trading innovations.
- Strong financial acumen with significant exposure to numerical data, odds compilation tools, and trading-related KPIs.
- Analytically minded with excellent attention to detail—you consistently spot the factors that impact sports margins and apply a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Customer-focused and commercially aware—you strike the right balance between maintaining sportsbook profitability and meeting the needs of our partners and their players.
- Proactive and resourceful—you take initiative and often anticipate the needs of partners and users before they arise.
- Prior experience in the sportsbook industry, with a strong grasp of trading operations and typical sportsbook backend tools and processes.
- Flexibility to work shifts based on the eSports calendar, including weekends and occasional late-night coverage.
