About Flutter UKI
Flutter UK & Ireland are the UKI region of Flutter Entertainment. They unite a dozen brands including powerhouses Paddy Power, Betfair, Tombola and Sky Betting & Gaming, bringing together hundreds of teams and thousands of colleagues, who create trusted entertainment for millions of customers every week.
The role:
The position holder lead a cross functional Product Engineering Team to develop products that realise customer and commercial outcomes. Own the end-to-end delivery pipeline owning the code driven deployment infrastructure, automated test safety nets, effective operational instrumentation and incident response.
A leader of people and a mentor to QA & Developers within your squad you should be on point for advice and guidance. You should be a team player who works collaboratively to achieve the goals of the squad.
SKILLS, CAPABILITIES & EXPERIENCE REQUIRE
Educational background:
- Basic required studies: Highschool / Bachelor Degree, other relevant certifications
- Proven track record of delivering projects through multi-disciplinary teams using Agile & lean principals.
- Able to clearly set priorities and focus on what is the most important task at hand.
- A comfortable leader and confident communicator. Able to explain complex technical
- ideas to technical & non-technical stakeholders.
- Commercially aware and with a strong focus on our Customer
- Experience working closely with other technology teams
- Structured thinking and a clear ability to plan out how to achieve product goals
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
- Take on day-to-day management duties for the QA & Engineers within your squad, including regular 1-2-1s, coaching and mentoring, enabling career development and assisting the Senior Engineering Manager with recruitment for new Engineers when required.
- Accountable for the delivery of customer focussed initiatives on the product roadmap, influencing How it’s built. Ensuring that delivery plans are achieved, and that they are driven by data and that the team commits to it.
- Actively participates in application design, data flows and detailed technical design.
- Liaise with other teams with the business to communicate and co-ordinate work and dependencies.
- Take ownership for code-quality, security & scalability, having a grasp of system you work on achieves business goals and meets customer needs.
- Ensures that high performers are challenged and champion their development. Equally ensures that poor performers are managed accordingly.
- Fosters a culture of transparency, openness, ensuring the squad is a happy cohesive unit. Takes robust action when they view behaviours which do not fit with these principals.
- Supports the implementation of Continuous Integration & Delivery, ensuring that delivery takes places in an Agile manner, releasing to production as soon as possible and experimenting where appropriate
- Uses data to inform decision making around delivery approach, holds their team and themselves account for delivery towards the goals of the team
- Actively participates in the culture of the Technology organisation, championing initiatives and showing a deep understanding of commercial goals and customer needs. · Ensures that all solutions built are of high quality and well tested.
- Ensuring features can be tested, and co-ordinating test efforts within team when required.
- Continually drive improvements to QA process, ensuring that we constantly improve test coverage focussing on automation. Establishing strong standards and holding the team to them.
- Use computers or computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write programs, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- To lead and coordinate the specific daily activities of the subordinate team
- To approve (within the limit decided together with the Economic Director), coordinate, monitor and submit to senior management the situation of days off and / or leave of staff within the sub-department
- To monitor and submit to the senior management the situation of the performances of the personnel within the sub-department
- To observe, monitor, resolve and submit to senior management various special situations related to the team he leads, such as: special requests from staff requiring the approval / intervention of the direct manager, various crisis situations, complaints or divergences that may appears in the team
- To report to the senior management the progress of the team within the various projects
- To guide and assist from a technical point of view the members of the team he coordinates
- To interview and select the candidates for the existing vacancies within the team he / she coordinates
- To perform any other specific technical activity of the team when the situation requires it.
