About Flutter UKI
Flutter UK & Ireland are the UKI region of Flutter Entertainment. They unite a dozen brands including powerhouses Paddy Power, Betfair, Tombola and Sky Betting & Gaming, bringing together hundreds of teams and thousands of colleagues, who create trusted entertainment for millions of customers every week.
The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Devops or Software engineer willing to become DevOps Engineer within our team, aiming to work with us to implement and support a highly transactional and highly available product.
The role is responsible to offer the needed support to the delivery teams on fast deploying their product code to production, as well as maintaining the product for the customers within highly performant parameters.
The successful candidate will be proactive, thorough and have good technical and problem-solving skills, with a positive and results-driven attitude. They will be striving to provide support and troubleshooting for high-quality products within agreed timelines, aiming for “right first time, every time” results and driving continuous improvements across the Linux environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deployment and configuration of new software application releases
- On-going support of the tribe's teams applications portfolio
- Support the codebase continuous deployment, from development through to production. Creating new continuous integration environments (from qa to prod) using GIT, Ansible, Chef and Jenkins/GoCD
- Create and maintain Infrastructure on OpenStack
- Automation configuration of balancers (Citrix Netscaler)
- Build and manage Couchbase, Kafka, Zookeeper clusters
- Assisting other devops colleagues, software engineers and developers within the tribe to build and scale the infrastructure for growth, security, and resilience
- Develop testing scenarios for new software installation/upgrades/migrations
- Understanding of hardware and software design documents
- Understand and create technical documentation, write operational procedures Being able to provide resource estimations for projects and software releases
- Act as an escalation point for 1st line support for various issues within the team
- Perform system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
- Offer 24/7 oncall troubleshooting support for the Tribe's software ownership
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential
- Knowledge of AWS (Compute, Storage), Openstack Cloud solutions.
- Solid knowledge and experience of Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems administration, Windows systems administration desirable as well
- Experience in application deployment and configuration on Linux platforms
- Experience of supporting any of Jetty/Tomcat/Nginx/other application servers
- Solid Networking and Public Clouds knowledge
- Experienced with SQL servers
- Experience on managing NoSQL servers – Kafka, Couchbase, Elastic Search are desirable
- Solid security knowledge - certificates, SSL communication – as well as aware of cyber security threats and understanding how to react fast on reducing these
- Experienced in using scripting technologies (Shell, Bash, Perl, Batch, python, ruby) to create/modify scripts
- Strong Telemetry knowledge - implementation and configuration of monitoring tools
- Strong ability to build on and use open-source tools/projects.
- Very good skills in analytical problem-solving, troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
Desirable
- Knowledge of automation tools (Chef/Ansible)
- Knowledge of Telemetry – OpenTSBD, Grafana, Splunk, Sensu, SLK, other Public Clouds' Telemetry tools
- Experience with packaging of applications
- Networking experience and knowledge - Citrix LBs, UltraDNS, Cloudflare, CDNs usage, AWS networking
- Solid understanding of high-volume transactional systems and distributed applications
- Knowledge on containerisation - Docker, Kubernetes, etc
- Java knowledge is a plus
