Job Description

This is a hands-on, player/coach opportunity to be the inaugural member of our Data team in the United States, based at our regional HQ in Denver. The Data Team Lead will be pivotal in establishing and scaling our data function across the US, with future expansion into Colombia.

The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise in fast, scalable data solution development and a proven track record building pragmatic, high-performing teams that thrive on getting things done. Excellence in stakeholder management and cross-border collaboration, particularly with our UK center of technical excellence, is essential.

The listed salary for this position is $130,000-$155,000 annually.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in an agile, startup-like environment, balancing the need for speed with uncompromising quality and compliance.
  • Demonstrated success in setting up and scaling high-performing data teams from scratch.
  • Strong advocate for self-service and enablement, with experience providing business teams with the necessary data tools and information to become more agile and data driven.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills; able to translate business requirements into technical delivery and communicate effectively across levels.
  • Deep understanding of data security, compliance, and privacy requirements.
  • A passion for coaching and mentoring, developing talent, and fostering a pragmatic, delivery-focused culture.
  • Technical expertise in Google Big Query, such as data lake and data warehouse, SQL for complex transformations, and Kafka for scalable data ingestion pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more advanced visualization tools, PowerBI and Looker preferred.
  • Strong programming skills and comfort with modern data engineering workflows in cloud environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Championing a strong self-service data culture, empowering business teams with the tools, data, and insights they need to drive agility and informed decision-making.
  • Managing key stakeholders, aligning business needs with technical solutions and ensuring clear, proactive communication.
  • Collaborating closely with the UK-based data team, sharing knowledge and contributing to our global technical excellence.
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards.
  • Evaluating, adopting, and integrating AI capabilities both to accelerate development and to deliver innovative solutions to business teams.
