About the Role

At PointsBet, we rely on insightful data to power our systems and solutions. As a Data Scientist you will be responsible to deliver insights on a daily basis. You will have mathematical and statistical expertise, along with natural curiosity and a creative mind. While interpreting, and cleaning our data, you will be relied on to ask questions, connect the dots, and uncover hidden opportunities for realizing the data’s full potential. As part of a team of specialists, the data scientist will slice and dice data using various methods and create new visions for the future. You will work closely with Trading, Tech & Product to use advanced analytics to improve our trading offering. The successful candidate will have a great team attitude and a strong desire to collaborate. Your goal will be to help our company analyze trends to make better decisions

Role Responsibilities

  • Build automation pipelines to drive improvements in our trading product & operations.
  • Work closely with senior members of the Data Science team to continuously develop our trading data science models.
  • Learn PointsBet proprietary modelling techniques.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to help drive business decisions.
  • Solve business problems using a wide variety of data science techniques.
  • Integrate and release the Data Science teams’ models into our production environment.
  • Contribute and adhere to team objectives including coding and modelling practices, continuous integration, and continuous delivery processes.
  • Analyse large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
  • Analyse data usage patterns and performance metrics on Data Lake House to optimize resource allocation.
  • Work closely with audit teams to fulfill data-related requests and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst or other similar role.
  • Evidence of an outstanding aptitude in applied mathematics and statistics.
  • Experience building statistical/machine learning models & objective orientated programming, particularly with C#, is welcome but not essential.
  • Understanding of sports betting and customer behaviours a plus
  • Logical and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Good organisational and communication skills
