Data Product Owner – 9-12 Month FTC 

  

Join our team as a Data Product Owner (12‑month FTC) supporting a major data platform transformation while also maintaining BAU data product delivery. You will act as the primary link between Product and Technology for our in‑house Data Squad, delivering business value quickly across both streams. 

 

Reporting to the Lead Product Owner, you will bridge business and engineering, driving continuous improvement across our data platforms, pipelines, governance capabilities, and customer-facing data products. 

 

You will have a strong bias for action and can break down complex data and platform problems into clear, deliverable steps. 

 

Key Responsibilities

• Translate product/commercial needs into clear functional and technical requirements for both transformation and BAU. 

• Lead requirements discovery across stakeholders and domains. 

• Ensure timely, accurate requirements so engineering teams can deliver efficiently. 

• Write user stories with acceptance criteria; groom and prioritise backlogs; plan releases; run show & tells; track benefits. 

Participate fully in agile ceremonies. 

• Adjust backlogs in response to changing priorities across Transformation and BAU. 

Maintain consistent communication with stakeholders, providing clear status visibility. 

• Balance commercial priorities against technical constraints. 

• Understand system and data dependencies across the ecosystem. 

• Manage cross‑team product dependencies, including data upstream/downstream impacts. 

• Navigate portfolio and feature delivery processes. 

• Build subject‑matter expertise in the data domain. 

• Support operational readiness for releases; provide training when required. 

• Ensure solutions meet NFRs: performance, security, data quality, compliance, governance. 

• Coordinate with 3rd‑party vendors for integrations when needed. 

 

To Excel in this role, you will need:

• Proven experience as a Product Owner or Data Product Owner. 

• Strong experience with data platforms, pipelines, governance, and data-powered products. 

• Excellent communication skills. 

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. 

• Experience defining business and technical requirements. 

• Ability to work with business, design, data engineering, and architecture. 

• Strong attention to detail. 

• Experience across multiple agile delivery models. 

• Experience in a multi‑product or multi‑domain environment. 

• (Preferred) Understanding of sports betting / high‑scale transactional environments. 

• High drive for results and action-oriented mindset. 

• Customer‑centric approach. 

Strong communication under pressure. 

• Collaborative, cross‑team working style.
