Data Operations Engineer

Your role in action

Reporting into the Data Operations leadership team, you’ll be responsible for keeping critical data platforms running day-to-day while supporting reporting, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring service levels are met. You’ll work closely with internal teams and vendors to maintain performance across live data environments.

• Monitor and support live data pipelines across Databricks and transformation workflows
• Troubleshoot data issues using SQL and resolve incidents within agreed service levels
• Support reporting dashboards ensuring performance, accuracy, and availability for business users
• Manage incidents and escalations across internal teams and external vendor partners
• Drive proactive monitoring, alert response, and system reliability improvements
• Participate in on-call roster supporting after-hours and peak event operations

What you'll need to succeed

You’re someone who thrives in high-demand environments and knows how to keep data systems running when it matters most. You combine strong technical capability with calm, practical problem-solving and bring a collaborative approach to working with teams and vendors.

• Strong experience with SQL, including troubleshooting and optimising queries
• Experienced operating data pipelines using Databricks and transformation tools such as dbt
• Proven capability supporting live, business-critical data systems in production environments
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms with exposure to AWS environments
• Experienced supporting reporting tools including Tableau with performance and data troubleshooting
• Proven ability to manage incidents, prioritise workloads, and meet service level commitments
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and vendors, building strong relationships
• Comfortable working in on-call environments and responding to after-hours incidents when required
