As a Data Engineer II at Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG), you will play a vital role in the evolution of our data infrastructure and the experiences we create for our internal stakeholders. In this position, you'll help build systems and tools that consolidate customer data from a variety of , integrate seamlessly with third-party platforms, and power personalized, high-impact user experiences. You’ll work as part of a collaborative team to design and implement systems that turn raw data into meaningful insights for analysts, marketers, product teams, and business decision-makers. Responsibilities
- Collaborate on designing and building scalable, secure, and high-performing data systbusiness goaems aligned with ls and technical best practices
- Develop and maintain robust data pipelines to support reporting, analytics, and machine learning efforts
- Design and implement data storage and processing systems that meet data retention and compliance standards
- Continuously improve the reliability, efficiency, and quality of data workflows across the organization
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify data needs and build flexible, user-friendly solutions
- Monitor system performance and ensure data accuracy, consistency, and protection
- Implement and advocate for strong data governance, privacy, and security practices
- Build familiarity with our gaming and betting products, customer behavior, and business objectives
- Support and mentor junior engineers, promoting a culture of inclusivity, curiosity, and continuous improvement
- Stay current on data engineering trends and emerging tools, applying them where they add value
- Open to occasional travel for in-person team meetings, events, or on-site collaboration
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of professional experience in data engineering, with a track record of delivering impactful solutions
- Strong grounding in data structures, algorithms, and modern software engineering principles
- Proficient in SQL and capable of writing complex, efficient queries
- Experience with data languages such as Python or R, and visualization/BI tools like Tableau or MicroStrategy
- Familiar with data modeling, ETL design, and data warehousing concepts
- Comfortable working with both SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra)
- Excellent analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first approach

Technical Skill Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering
- Spark using Scala
- Terraform for deploying infrastructure on AWS and Snowflake
- Airflow or equivalent orchestration tools
- Object-oriented and functional programming experience
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra)
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities
- Problem-solving mindset with a natural curiosity
- Skilled at translating technical details for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Comfortable with ambiguity and fast decision-making
