The division encompasses various corporate functions, including finance, legal, human resources, technology, and more, ensuring seamless operations and strategic alignment throughout the company

Role Overview:

Flutter's Procurement function governs over $6bn of third-party spend across divisions, regions and brands. It is supported by Sourcing, Category Management, Contract Management, Supplier Risk and Due Diligence teams.

The Procurement Data and Insights team sits alongside these groups to convert raw data into reliable, actionable intelligence for decision making and value delivery.

Reporting to the Senior Data Engineer, the Data Engineer supports the build and operation of procurement data pipelines, governance and analytics on the Databricks platform. The role executes technical work packages defined by the manager, contributing to stable pipelines, well documented datasets and the controls that underpin self-service analytics across Procurement.

The Data Engineer is a hands-on contributor focused on building craft in pipeline development, SQL, data modelling and platform operations. The role works under the technical direction of the manager, with scope to take increasing ownership of defined data products as capability is demonstrated. This is a development-track role with a clear path to senior responsibility over time.

Working alongside the manager, the Insights Manager and technology counterparts, the Data Engineer contributes to integration with upstream and downstream systems, supports schema changes under guidance, and participates in functional testing for data layers prior to release. The role helps maintain master and reference data such as supplier normalisation, keeps catalog and lineage entries current, and applies improvements to performance, reliability and cost effectiveness of the platform under direction. By delivering well built and well documented data products within an established governance framework, the Data Engineer enables dashboards, models and KPIs to be built on a single source of truth.

Data Analysis & Visualisation Support

  • Build and publish certified datasets and contribute to a consistent semantic layer for BI tools.
  • Implement KPI definitions and metric calculations as agreed with the Insights team. Protect one source of truth.
  • Build standard executive and operational dashboards from defined specifications, translating complex data into clear visual outputs.
  • Tune performance for shared datasets that power dashboards and scheduled reports.
  • Operate the dataset certification and change control process under the manager’s direction, with clear communication of impacts.

Data Operations & Data Science

  • Build and maintain ingestion, transformation and orchestration of procurement data pipelines. Align schedules and dependencies with source systems.
  • Apply data contracts with sources and consumers. Implement schema changes, versioning and backward compatibility under guidance.
  • Operate monitoring, alerting and incident response. Maintain runbooks and contribute to reducing MTTR and tracking pipeline success rate.
  • Support capacity, performance and platform cost management through tuning and right sizing.
  • Support master and reference data processes.
  • Execute lifecycle management for raw, curated and mart layers in line with the defined strategy.

Data Governance & Architecture

  • Apply data policies, standards and naming conventions. Keep documentation current and audit ready.
  • Implement the data quality framework and SLAs. Apply rules, monitor results and progress remediation through the controlled workflow.
  • Apply privacy, access control and retention in line with legal and InfoSec guidance. Support role-based access reviews.
  • Maintain the data catalog, lineage and business glossary entries to support self-service discovery.
