About the Role
We are looking for a data-driven operator who is looking to 1) apply & expand their data skills across a range of functions and 2) learn & grow with a startup. No two days are the same at Chalkboard: you will be overcoming challenges with your own ingenuity and learning while doing so. As the data swiss army knife, you will partner closely with Product, BizOps, Customer Success, Customer Insights, Marketing, and Management to understand user behavior and guide the next best action.
You will:
- Become a high-impact & high-visibility collaborator: use SQL & Excel to synthesize a variety of data sources into actionable recommendations across a range of audiences
- This can range from cohort analytics to unit economics/marginal analytics to marketing efficiency & attribution models
- Conduct user research to drive product innovation and develop a deep understanding of user behaviors, motivations, and experiences
- Democratize data access across the company: translate raw data into interpretable datasets for all to use
- Build visualizations & reporting to inform day-to-day operations
You have:
- A natural curiosity to understand the why behind everything (from consumer behavior to operational processes) through a combination of first principles, intuition, and scientific thinking
- A high level of autonomy and responsibility, owning solutions from design to execution (with guidance when needed)
- A knack for turning ambiguous problems into actionable insights through clear reasoning & communication
- Strong proficiency with SQL, Excel, large datasets, and data visualization
- Excellent interpersonal and communication in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders
- A desire to accelerate your career by going above and beyond as a scrappy, data-driven advisor at a fast-paced startup
- 1-4 years of experience in business analytics/intelligence, data science, consulting, or finance
Nice to haves:
- Passionate about sports and/or prior experience in sports/gaming
- Experience with additional programming languages (Python, R)
- Experience conducting and synthesizing consumer research
- Experience with Databricks and BizOps tools (Braze, Segment, Amplitude, Appsflyer)
- Experience with relational databases and normalization
Perks & Benefits
- $30 daily DoorDash credit for weekday meals
- 20 PTO days plus 10 company holidays
- 16‑week fully paid parental leave
- Eligibility for performance‑based incentive bonuses
- 80% employer‑paid health (UnitedHealthcare), dental, and vision premiums for employees; 75% coverage for dependents
- Multiple plan options, including HDHPs
- 401(k) with pre‑tax and Roth options and 4% company match
- Stocked office snacks & beverages and catered events
- Company‑sponsored sports outings
- Company‑provided tech setup
This role is in-office, Monday-Thursday (remote optional Friday), out of our New York office.
