As a Company Secretary you will serve as a key governance leader within Betway Africa, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements across multiple

African entities, supporting the executive leadership team, maintaining robust governance

frameworks, and ensuring alignment with Group standards while navigating complex, evolving regulatory environments across the region. This will help us excel and stay ahead of the game.

What you’ll be doing

As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Corporate Governance and Board Support

    • Act as Secretary to the Africa Board and Board Committees

    • Prepare and circulate board packs, agendas, minutes, and resolutions

    • Advise directors on governance duties and fiduciary responsibilities

    • Ensure adherence to corporate governance codes (including King IV where applicable)

    • Maintain statutory registers and company records

  • Regulatory and Statutory Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with Companies Act requirements across relevant African

    • jurisdictions

    • Manage annual returns, CIPC filings, and statutory submissions

    • Support regulatory licence compliance in gaming and betting jurisdictions

    • Liaise with external regulators and advisors where required

  • Entity Management

    • Oversee incorporation, restructuring, and dissolution of entities across Africa

    • Maintain corporate structure charts and governance documentation

    • Coordinate shareholder communications and resolutions

  • Risk and Governance Frameworks

    • Support the implementation of governance frameworks aligned to Group standards

    • Assist in board evaluations and governance reviews

    • Monitor governance risks and ensure proper escalation

  • Stakeholder Management

    • Act as a trusted advisor to the Regional CEO and executive team

    • Coordinate with Group Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Finance functions

    • Manage relationships with external legal counsel, auditors, and corporate service providers

Essential skills you’ll bring to the table

The necessary skills that we require for this role include:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively

  • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with a focus on achieving shared goals

  • Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope

  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations


Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve

It would be great if you also have some the following skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets, including odds calculation, betting types and market trends

  • Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry, with a strong understanding of player behaviour and industry regulations

  • Familiarity with gambling regulations and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to legal standards

  • Experience in developing and executing customer retention strategies

  • Chartered Company Secretary qualification (CGISA/CGI or equivalent)

  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in a Company Secretariat role

  • Experience within a regulated environment (gaming, fintech, financial services, telecoms preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of the South African Companies Act and exposure to broader African jurisdictions

  • Experience supporting Boards and executive committees

  • Strong understanding of corporate governance best practices

  • High attention to detail and organisational discipline

  • Excellent drafting and minute-taking skills

  • Discretion and integrity when handling confidential matters

  • Ability to operate across multiple jurisdictions and cultures

  • Commercial mindset with ability to balance governance and business enablement
