We are seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to define and execute our global technology strategy, ensuring that digital innovation enhances every aspect of our in-person events and operations.
The ideal candidate will combine technical architecture expertise, leadership capability, and a vision for digital transformation in the events space. This role will lead the development of tools that improve attendee engagement, AI-assisted networking, and global system integration, while overseeing infrastructure, security, and digital performance across all SiGMA offices.
The CTO will build and mentor a high-performing technology team, implement scalable systems, and partner with leadership to ensure technology empowers the company’s continued international growth.
What You'll Do
Technology Leadership & Team Development
- Build and lead a high-performing technology team (5+ members) across software development, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
- Assess current capabilities, identify gaps, and hire top talent to support the company’s global growth.
- Establish clear development processes, performance standards, and documentation protocols.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration across international tech teams.
- Mentor and guide team members through professional development and regular performance reviews.
Software Development & Architecture
- Architect and oversee development of all SiGMA digital platforms, including event websites, registration systems, and partner portals.
- Lead the creation of a global networking app to enhance delegate interaction before, during, and after events.
- Manage integrations between event registration tools, CRM systems, websites, and internal management dashboards.
- Implement AI-driven technologies to optimize user experience, automate workflows, and enhance engagement analytics.
- Ensure all platforms are secure, scalable, and optimized for high traffic during flagship events.
Infrastructure & Security
- Design and implement IT infrastructure across four global offices (Malta, Cyprus, Manila, São Paulo).
- Establish security protocols, compliance policies, and global data privacy standards (GDPR, etc.).
- Manage cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and ensure robust backup and disaster recovery systems.
- Oversee vendor relationships and ensure service quality for all technology partners and suppliers.
- Maintain reliable communication systems, productivity tools, and digital workspaces across offices.
Strategic Planning & Innovation
- Develop a technology roadmap aligned with SiGMA’s global expansion and strategic objectives.
- Drive adoption of emerging technologies (AI, AR/VR, data analytics) to enhance event experiences.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives, introducing tools that streamline operations and improve attendee insights.
- Partner closely with Marketing, Events, and Operations teams to ensure all systems directly support business goals.
- Continuously evaluate new tech opportunities that position SiGMA as a pioneer in smart event technology.
Budget & Resource Management
- Manage the global technology budget and allocate resources effectively across projects and offices.
- Evaluate ROI and implement cost-efficient solutions that scale with the company’s international footprint.
- Maintain oversight of procurement, vendor management, and long-term licensing strategies.
What You'll Have
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 8+ years of software development experience, with 5+ years in senior or architectural roles.
- Proven track record in leading technical teams of 5 or more members.
- Strong background in software solution architecture, preferably in a global or B2B environment.
- Experience developing web and mobile applications (preferably event or networking-related).
- Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, cybersecurity, and global IT infrastructure.
- Experience collaborating with international teams across time zones.
- Excellent communication skills - able to translate complex technology concepts to business stakeholders.
- Prior experience in event technology, media, or community-building platforms is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience building networking or matchmaking apps.
- Familiarity with event management systems, registration tools, and CRM integration.
- Knowledge of AI, automation, and analytics tools to drive business intelligence.
- Understanding of payment systems, multi-currency transactions, and marketing automation.
- Experience implementing data privacy compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) across multiple regions.
- Proficiency with CMS, API development, and third-party platform integrations.
