Role
We are excited to be on the hunt for a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to join our finance team in Cyprus.
In this role you will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with local regulations, preparing accurate financial records, and supporting business growth. This role also involves handling payment processing for our e-commerce activities.
Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with local accounting standards.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Monitor accounts payable and receivable, perform reconciliations, and ensure timely settlements.
Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory filings.
Support annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Manage payroll and related statutory obligations.
Oversee and execute payments for e-commerce transactions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Provide ad hoc financial support to management when required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent) preferred.
Minimum 2–3 years of accounting experience, ideally in Cyprus.
Strong knowledge of Cypriot tax and VAT legislation.
Experience in e-commerce payments or online transaction processing
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Navision, QuickBooks, Xero)
Strong knowledge of MS Excel, Google Docs
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills in English (Greek will be considered an advantage).
Nice to have requirements:
Prior experience in e-commerce, fintech, or online payment platforms.
Familiarity with payment gateways, chargeback processes, and fraud prevention tools.
Knowledge of international accounting standards (IFRS/US GAAP).
Experience working in a multinational or fast-paced environment.
Fluency in Greek and/or additional languages.
Strong analytical mindset and ability to streamline processes with automation tools.
Ideal person:
A detail-oriented and reliable accountant with strong knowledge of Cypriot tax legislation and solid experience in core accounting tasks. They’re comfortable handling e-commerce payments, payment gateways, and fraud-prevention processes, and bring added value with experience in fintech, multinational, or fast-paced environments. Tech-savvy, analytical, and fluent in English (Greek or other languages a plus), they combine accuracy with problem-solving skills to keep finance operations running smoothly.
OKR - First 3-months:
Objective 1: Ensure accurate and timely accounting operations
KPI: 100% of accounting entries and reconciliations completed on time each month.
KPI: Zero material errors in financial records during probation.
KPI: Monthly closing completed within 5 working days.
Objective 2: Support compliance with Cypriot tax and statutory obligations
KPI: VAT return for the period submitted on time with no errors.
KPI: Payroll and social insurance filings processed correctly and on schedule.
Objective 3: Strengthen e-commerce payment process
KPI: 100% of e-commerce vendor and customer payments processed accurately and within agreed timelines.
KPI: Reconciliation of online payment platforms (PayPal, Stripe, card processors, etc.) completed monthly with no discrepancies older than 30 days.
KPI: Report prepared identifying at least 2 process improvements or automation opportunities in the payment cycle.
Objective 4: Integrate smoothly into the finance team and company culture
KPI: Build effective working relationships with key stakeholders (finance team, operations, auditors, payment providers) by end of probation.
KPI: Demonstrate initiative by delivering at least 1 value-add insight (e.g., cost-saving, control improvement, or reporting enhancement).
