Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in month-end close: prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and review schedules: fixed assets, intercompany, prepaid expenses, bank reconciliations
  • Support preparation of management accounts with variance explanations
  • Assist in preparing statutory financial statements (local requirements / IFRS)
  • Assist with VAT returns, ensuring correct tax / VAT treatment in line with Maltese / EU rules
  • Support internal and external audits: collate supporting documentation, respond to auditor queries
  • Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls (policies, workflow, documentation)
  • Work with cross-functional teams (operations, compliance, IT) to ensure accurate financial flows
  • Handle ad hoc accounting or financial reporting tasks, e.g. assisting with forecasts, financial analysis
  • ACCA qualified, or in final stages of ACCA qualification
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2–4 years’ accounting experience in a corporate / industry setting
  • Good working knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS / local GAAP)
  • Experience with accounting software / ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Good understanding of VAT / tax in Malta / EU context
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to work under deadlines
  • Good communication skills in English (verbal & written)
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and interface with various teams

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in iGaming, fintech, or related sectors
  • Exposure to multi-currency or intercompany accounting
  • Experience with reporting automation tools or data analytics
  • Knowledge of regulatory financial/compliance requirements for gaming operations
