We’re looking for an experienced 3rd Line Network Engineer to take ownership of a complex enterprise network estate spanning corporate and retail environments. This is a hands-on, senior role where you’ll troubleshoot high-impact issues, lead network improvements, and play a key part in technical projects that keep the business secure, resilient, and connected.

What you’ll be doing

  • Take ownership of 3rd line support for enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Support and maintain firewalls, switches, wireless, and network services (Checkpoint, Fortinet, Cisco, Meraki).
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, identifying root causes and preventing recurrence.
  • Apply, review, and manage firewall rules, policies, and configurations.
  • Work closely with ISPs, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless connectivity.
  • Contribute to and lead technical projects—from design and testing through implementation.
  • Manage upgrades, patches, backups, and security configurations with minimal disruption.
  • Adhere to ITIL-aligned incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and step in for the Team Lead when required.
  • Maintain clear, accurate technical documentation.
  • Participate in audits and implement remediation actions.

What you’ll bring

  • 10+ years in enterprise or service provider networking roles.
  • 5+ years hands-on firewall experience.
  • Strong expertise in TCP/IP, network security, firewall/DMZ design, and enterprise networking.
  • Experience with Cisco and Meraki environments; Checkpoint or Fortinet experience is desirable.
  • CCNA and CCNP (or equivalent experience).
  • Working knowledge of ITIL practices (incident, problem, change).
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g. SolarWinds).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • A proactive, “can-do” mindset with a passion for technology and continuous improvement.
