Job Description

The Design Team Lead helps foster a supportive, creatively confident, and well-aligned design team environment. They guide and support designers day to day, contribute to the delivery of creative work, and help uphold quality and consistency across outputs. This is a hands-on design role with added leadership responsibilities; ideal for someone who enjoys creating high-quality design work while also helping others thrive. The Design Team Lead works alongside the Creative Manager to maintain momentum, uphold standards, and contribute to a positive, collaborative culture.

  • Design and deliver creative assets across digital and marketing touchpoints, contributing directly to campaigns and dayto-day outputs.
  • Guide and support fellow designers, offering feedback, clarification, and mentoring to help elevate creative work. 
  • Collaborate with the Oliver traffic team to help manage workload visibility, flag capacity issues, and support delivery flow.
  • Review creative work for clarity, consistency, and alignment, ensuring high standards across the team.
  • Maintain and evolve shared templates and assets, making sure the team has easy access to current, useful resources.
  • Work closely with the Copy Team Lead to support alignment of visual and written content in multi-channel campaigns.
  • Contribute to team health by surfacing blockers, strengths, or morale concerns to the Creative Manager and offering support when needed.
  • Bring creative inspiration and competitor insights into team discussions, helping keep the work fresh and relevant.
  • Conducting one to one meetings with your design team members, to gauge, guide and aid their professional development and assess their current status. Providing meaningful feedback to the Creative Manager.
  • Assist in conducting performance appraisals alongside the Creative Manager.
  • Liaise with senior creative team members to ensure that changes and updates are clearly understood and communicated effectively to the respective teams.
  • Manage team leave administration on Sage and cross team calendars, alongside the creative manager.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate is a strong designer who enjoys collaborating and supporting others. They are confident in their craft, calm in their approach, and motivated to help both people and ideas grow.
  • 4–6 years of design experience, preferably within an in-house or agency set-up. With a strong digital portfolio and campaign experience. Experience in digital and print design preferred.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality creative work, often under shifting timelines
  • Experience giving feedback or mentoring peers, even informally
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and Premiere Pro, HTML and 3D a plus.)
  • Experience using structured workflows or traffic systems (e.g., OMG, Airtable, Monday.com, Basecamp) • Good communication skills, especially around creative discussions and feedback
  • An interest in the gaming or entertainment industry, and curiosity around what makes campaigns effective • Tertiary qualification in Design, Visual Communication, or related field preferred.

  • Designers feel supported and clear in their work, with better momentum and less confusion
  • Creative work is polished, well-structured, and aligned with brand expectations
  • Collaboration between design, copy, and traffic flows more smoothly
  • Team resources (like templates and library assets) are maintained and useful
  • The Creative Manager is informed and supported, with better visibility into team energy and needs
