Lead the development, implementation, and optimisation of scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions.
Architect and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to transform and integrate data from multiple sources.
Define and implement data storage solutions optimised for analytics, machine learning, and reporting.
Enforce data governance, including security, compliance, and access controls.
Set coding standards, implement data quality practices, and maintain monitoring frameworks for performance.
Oversee the development of dashboards and reports to enhance business insight and decision-making.
Integrate data into operational workflows to support organisational efficiency.
Evaluate and implement new tools, frameworks, and technologies through engineering forums and strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with leadership to define and execute data strategy aligned with business goals.
Build and manage a high-performing team of BI developers and data engineers.
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
Identify technical risks and lead mitigation planning to ensure project stability and reliability.
Proactively solve engineering challenges related to large-scale data systems.
Job Experience & Skills Required: Qualifications:
Matric (Grade 12)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 7 years’ experience in data engineering, BI, or analytics roles.
At least 7 years of experience within a technology-driven environment.
2+ years in a senior data or BI development role with leadership responsibilities.
Hands-on experience with SQL and the Microsoft BI stack (or equivalent).
Proven track record in building large-scale, efficient data pipelines and managing database systems.
Practical experience with cloud-based data systems (e.g. AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Familiarity with data solutions supporting analytics and machine learning workflows.
Prior exposure to regulated industries such as online gaming or finance is beneficial.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong programming skills for building and maintaining data pipelines.
Expertise in data modelling, transformation, orchestration, and workflow integration.
Ability to troubleshoot and optimise complex data environments.
Solid understanding of data security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Exceptional attention to detail and a consistent drive for delivering high-quality results.
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects within scope and deadlines.
Strong leadership skills with a focus on mentorship, innovation, and team development.
Adaptive mindset and resilience in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
Experience in data solutions for real-time processing, betting markets, or behavioural analytics is a plus.
